245 Beacon Park. From 1895 to 1927, trolley cars brought thousands of visitors and residents of the area to Beacon Park, once the largest resort on Webster Lake. Edgar Hill purchased this popular area from the Ancient Order of Hibernians. The Hill family then built a waiting station for the trolleys, along with a pavilion, dance hall, steamer house, boat shed, and two canoe houses. Later, a wharf, a fleet of steamers, and an open-air theater were added to the park. Ralph Hill, the son of Edgar Hill, operated Beacon Park in 1920, enlarging on the resort area with an amusement park featuring a merry-go-round and a ferris wheel. The park also offered boat races, balloon flights, baseball and high-wire acts. In 1937, Alfred E. Kleindienst bought Beacon Park, and turned it into a private estate. Today, condominiums occupy the site of one of the greatest resort areas in the lake's history.
