14 Jet Cameos My favorite Whitby Jet pieces are the cameos carved from it. Whitby Jet is a form of coal that was originally a log. It is dense and very soft so lends itself to intricate carving. The detail on the cameos is lovely and very precise. Size of center cameo is 2" by 1 3/4".
15 Whitby Jet Cameos A soldier and shepard boy carved in Whitby Jet. English in origin-size of bottom right cameo is 2 1/4" by 1 7/8".

17 Whitby Jet Pendant with Picture This is definately a mourning piece commemorating the young woman on the opposite side. This pendant measures 3 1/2" by 2" and it the largest piece of jet pendant jewellery I own. Engraved initials are "AEI" which stands for Amity-Eternity-Infinity.
