Mock Trial Telepresence Training (Friday, August 10, 2012)A one-day workshop at three locations: North Carolina Central University School of Law of Durham; Fayetteville State University and NC A&T State University of Greensboro via tele-presence training that primarily targets North Carolina elementary and middle school teachers to learn more about courtroom procedure and how to conduct mock trials and moot courts in a classroom setting. Teachers heard from and interacted with lawyers and other legal professionals. MTT is designed to align with the North Carolina Standard Course of Study at each education level. Teachers played a role in an actual mini-mock trial and were provided with resource materials. |

2012 Project Citizen State Competition (Friday, April 13, 2012)| The Project Citizen State Competition was held at the NC Legislative Building on Friday, April 13th in Raleigh, NC. A total of twelve projects were submitted and judged prior to the event at the North Carolina Bar Association in Cary. The The top teams for each level, elementary, middle and high school were invited to present at the Legislative Building to compete for first place. |

2012 WTP: Battle of the Carolinas (March 30, 2012)The inaugural 2012 Battle of the Carolinas is a simulated congressional hearing competition, sponsored by the North Carolina Bar Association Foundation and hosted at Charlotte School of Law in Charlotte, NC.
Three teams from each state competed for the title of #1 in the Carolinas. The teams that participated in this competition were the first to receive awards and certificates for the We The People Battle of the Carolinas.
In 2013, South Carolina will be hosting the competition.

2012 We the People State Competition (Friday, March 9, 2012)| The We the People curriculum enhances students' understanding of the institutions of American constitutional democracy, and also helps them identify the contemporary relevance of the Constitution and Bill of Rights. The culminating activity of the program is a simulated congressional hearing in which students demonstrate their knowledge and skills as they evaluate, take, and defend positions on historical and contemporary constitutional issues. Competitive hearings are conducted at the high school level. |
