enlarge 21KB, 576x490 30 Yesterday I was looking for some brass stock. I got a brass rod, 6gauge, which is pretty stout. I thought I'd make two by pass bangles for my sons. I never thought it would take so long, but brass like this not only takes quite a bit to anneal it, it still took massive time to hammer into a circle. This rod took a fair bit of pressure to bend before annealing.
I sawed two 12" pieces and have no clue what I'll do with the piece left over, it's not quite long enough to make a bangle but I'll think of something. Hopefully it will be softer if it's shorter, or maybe not. "I don't know how long your..." View Comments...

Gauges of metal vary from 14ga (thinner ones) to 10 gauge-(Silver ones). All metals are annealed to soften, hammered on the ends, drilled and riveted, and then hand hammered to decorate and harden. Sanded from 400 grit to 1200 grit. Marked with Sterling and Handmade stamps and makers mark.

Latigo strapping knotted at the top of the 3.5" x 3.5" top. Three of the tubes are 1/2" diameter, 2 are 3/4" diameter. The center portion, the clanger, is a formed and rolled piece of brass with the Beijing symbol, which has a wonderful sound. Tubes vary in length from 6" for the shortest to 10" for the longest. Total length is 12" from the domed top.

I then sawed out a matching back, with tabs. After I finished the wiring on of Czech beads, vintage beads, real pearls, leaves, garnets, and Swarovski Margaritas, and black diamond beads, I placed the back over it and clamped down the tabs to cover the wiring. Length of necklace is 24" 25", 26" and the focal part measures 2" by 2 3/4".

There were bezel set plastic oval 'stones' on the 3 middle panels, it was dingy and nasty and the bezels were riveted on so they stuck up when you had the bracelet on. I drilled a hole on either side of the one left by the rivet, and wired in rough turquoise for her and polished it up.
