Yesterday I was looking for some brass stock.  I got a brass rod, 6gauge, which is pretty stout.  I thought I'd make two by pass bangles for my sons.  I never thought it would take so long, but brass like this not only takes quite a bit to anneal it, it still took massive time to hammer into a circle.  This rod took a fair bit of pressure to bend before annealing.

I sawed two 12" pieces and have no clue what I'll do with the piece left over, it's not quite long enough to make a bangle but I'll think of something.  Hopefully it will be softer if it's shorter, or maybe not.
"I don't know how long your leftover piece is (maybe 2 - 3" lengths?), but you can saw that into a few pieces, pieces, hammer them, drill holes in each end and connect with (sturdy!) jump rings to make some kind of link bracelet. (actually, not sure with that gauge whether I'd forge the entire piece first or saw it into pieces before the forging)." --Marilyn, 12/15/09
