best finds 2007
These are my best finds of 2007.  Some I watched for months waiting to get the funds to buy, some I found and had to have immediately as the price was right. Only one I sold, as it was taken off my jacket at Wolfe Myrow's in Providence during the Convention!  There were others that I liked, but sold.  But these are the best and for now I'm keeping them to wear.

Heavy Sterling brooch with amethysts in tulip design with leaves.  Marked Sterling Mexico on back.  Measures 3 3/4" x 2 1/2".  One of same design found in Mexican Silver by Penny C. Morrill and Carole A. Berk page 111.  The only difference is that the brooch there is all silver without the amethysts and has 4 tulips instead of three like this one.  Construction is identical with all marks being same. This is the only one of my best that I sold, and it was literally taken off my jacket at Wolfe's at the Convention and bought on the spot!

Early Signed Eisenberg Convertible Necklace
his unusual and rare Eisenberg is called a convertible necklace. It makes into two 6 3/4" bracelets with emerald cut clear crystals, measuring 3/8" wide. One has a safety chain, the other has the loops for one, but wearing as a necklace it would be in an inconvenient place as far as the design of the necklace goes. Between the two bracelets there is a sincle stone with two push in bits to conplete the closing of the necklace. The brooch measures 1 3/8" diameter and is signed with a script ;E; on the back. There are two small screws behind the pin catch. The other script 'E', is on the push in clasp of the bracelet. The necklace measures 14 3/4". The brooch resembles a snowflake with prong set cystals set in diamond shaped stones.

Small hand painted portrait of St. Fabiola, the Patron Saint of Abused Women.  It is in a Sterling filigree mounting with a tube and safety catch on the back as well as a pendant bail. Measures 1 1/2" x 1".

This Saint was painted over and over again on different mediums, basically with the same poignant gaze.  The National Portrait Gallery in London has a collection of 300 portraits amassed by a Belgium artist - Francis Alys which he has collected over the last 15 years.  Most all of them are from the mid to late Twentieth Century, and created predominantly by amateurs.

HUGE THANKS to Nicole St. Pierre for the interesting and thought provoking history on this incredible 4th Century woman.
