History (July 3, 2006)| The Miniature Pincher first originated from Germany as the Reh Pinscher. They were named so because of their resemblence to the small red roe deer that were common in Germany. These smaller versions of the German Pinscher were bred as ratters and mousers. The Reh Pinscher were first displayed in German dog shows of 1876. In 1895, they were officially recognized by the Pinscher-Schnauzer Klub. The Miniature Pinscher is not a miniatureized version of the Doberman Pinscher. Acutally, they are an older breed then the Doberman. The miniature pinscher was officially recognized in 1880 while the Doberman was not recognized until 1900. In 1929, the miniature pinscher was recognized by the American Kennel Club. |
