Gracie Rose was deemed "mean" by a local shelter Vet. Gracie Rose was scheduled to be put down because the Vet said "she didn't get along with the rabbit". FUR immediately made arrangements with the help of The New Hope Animal Foundation to rescue her. Gracie Rose is as sweet as her picture. She is a charming mini-lop who gets along great with her people friends. (SC)
and safe, with lots of toys, and for humans who will pet & love me" AMEN!
Gracie Rose "I pray for a home of my very own, where I will be loved....
Butterscotch goes on a shopping trip before heading home with his new family.
Here's an updated picture of Bambi and Jabari.
Peter Parsley napping.
Hoppy Hope. The picture makes her look much bigger then she actually is. Her weight is 1-lb 3 oz. She is so thin that she was able to fit through a 1-1/2" bar of her cage. Gracie's weight is 1-lb 9 oz. How could anyone starve and mistreat such beautiful creatures? Stay tuned for additional pictures as these two darling bunnies florish into healthy rabbits.
Grayson (gray chinchilla) and Hoppy Hope are two very sweet female mini-lops. The two where neglected by their previous owner who dumped them in the night drop at the shelter. Both where starving and had fur loss due to malnutrition. Grayson and Hoppy Hope are currently in foster care where they are receiving treatment and lots of tender loving care as they recover from the severe neglect they received. They will not be available for adoption until they have fully recovered.
Hoppy Hope what a dolly!
Hoppy Hope & Grayson week four. Gracie Joy I discovered is a Grayson Joy this week.
Hoppy Hope & Grayson after one week in foster care the two are putting on weight and their fur is growing back.
Brandon enjoying dipping his paw in a bowl of ice to keep him cool.
Chance won over the hearts of not only a new family but Ellie and Snoopy too! Chance is a little protective of Ellie so she divides her time between both bunny boys. One thing is sure, Ellie wants for nothing; she is pampered by her family and her two bunny friends.
Snoopy was an older rabbit who was dumped by his owners who also neglected him. Snoopy had malaculsion too which also caused a runny eye. Noop as he is called by his new family had his incisors removed and his eye treated. Snoopy is king of the house. He thinks he is more of a person then a rabbit. A bunny love match was made when he met Ellie. Snoopy has his own YouTube video and has been featured on Good day Sacramento. Artist Ann Ranlett from Auburn has painted Snoopy's portrait several times.
Ellie was rescued from the Yolo shelter. She was severly neglected by her former owners. She had mallaculsion (the teeth do not align properly) on both the upper and lower front teeth. It was so bad her lower incisors were sticking out of her mouth and her upper incisors where so long they were curled almost under her tongue. Her nails hadn't been trimmed which caused some of her nails to tear off. She had been at the shelter for so long her fur was beginning to fall out due to the stress. She appeared to be a mean bunny but who wouldn't be cranky after the lack of care she received. Ellie was rescued by FUR and quickly received the medical care she needed. We had both her top and bottom teeth removed (rabbits pick up food with their front teeth and chew with their back molers). We placed her in foster care where she would receive loving care. Ellie was adopted to a wonderful home as a friend for Snoopy.
Silly came to the shelter with a fracture to his left hind leg. We were instructed by the Vet to keep him quite for at least a month while his leg healed. Easier said then done with this Silly Hopper. The daughter of the family that adopted Silly had a soft spot in her heart for the less fortunate rabbits with injuries. Silly's leg is healed, although his leg sticks out a little to the side it doesn't stop him from bouncing off the walls in his new home where he is loved dearly.
Silly sound asleep!
Will the real Teddy Bear please stand up!
Teddy Bear joins the gang for a bowl of hay.
Daisy on the right was adopted by Kim & Dan as a new friend for Scout, Abby & Thumper. Months later they fell in love with Teddy Bear on the left. As you can see from the picture Teddy Bear is quite fond of Daisy.
Bonnie came to the shelter in November and a few days later gave birth to several babies. Bonnie was adopted by Robin. Bonnie rules the house and is quite mischievious. Son Oliver joined his Mom Bonnie and the two darlings are known as "Double Trouble" Seems Oliver inherited Bonnie's need to explore and find things to get into. They were once found in a large tub of food having a feast.
Dear Bonnie felt she wasn't being fed enough greens in her new home, so she hopped up on the kitchen table and helped herself.
Baxter was four years old when he entered the FUR Program. He was formely bonded to cats. Baxter won the heart of FUR volunteer Paula who just happened to have cats. Baxter is now King Rabbit in his new home and enjoys cuddling with his new feline friend Joey.

Molly and Hannah are now 2 1/2 years old. They are bigger then their pictured here but still on the small side. The girls need a new home! The girls are currently at the Folsom Petsmart on East Bidwell. Hannah is more of an exploer while, Molly is a little more laid back. Both girls are very playful with their toys. Picture taken 11/2005.
Current pictures 6/2008 of Molly and Hannah. As you can see they are both small dwarf rabbits. They both fit together comfortably inside a critter castle.
Baby Rexy stops to pose for the camera.
Rexy is growing bigger everyday. He is very playful and has perfect litter box habits. He is an extremely loving bunny and loves to be pet.
Smokey in his foster home hanging out with one of the family dogs. SMOKEY was ADOPTED 9/14/2008 by a wonderful new family. They love his personality and especially his name since the Dad is a Fireman!
Smokey takes time out for a rest after running around.
Smokey grooms the ears of the dog in the foster home that he is currently in.

Dutchess checks out Moo Moo kitty.
Dutchess gets along great with cats.
Here's a side shot of Goldie.
Marshmallow is a dwarf mix of some sort. He's got beautiful blue eyes and he's got a wonderful personality. He likes to play with his toys. He greets me when I get up in the morning, probably because he wants his veggie treat but it makes me feel special all the same. He gets excited when I sit with him and he'll run circles around me and dance for me and gives us all kisses. ADOPTED 11/2008!
Briar says hello to his neighbor Jelly Bean. They keep each other company while at Petsmart. When they are out in seperate exercise pens that are placed side by side. Jelly Bean gets so excited watching Briar play and dance that he joins him! It's great fun to watch them dance together! ADOPTED!
Briar takes a rest after a long day of playing and dancing. He had previously been kept in a very small cage and had no room to hop and play. He is so happy to finally get out of a much larger cage to play in an exercise pen daily. I've never seen a more appreciative rabbit. His face is simply darling. ADOPTED!
Mammia Mia standing up and baby Sophia laying beside her. The two will be available for adoption by the end of December beginning of January. We would like to adopt them together. Sophia has been with her Momma since birth. They are both Mini-Rex's.
Sophia tried to hide behind Mamma. UPDATE: Sadly Mammia Mia didn't make it through her spay surgery. She had a heart attack right after the surgery was over. Sophia did just fine but is very sad and misses her Mommy. We will all miss Mammia Mia but Sophia will miss her the most. Sophia is recovering in foster care where she is receiving a lot of TLC. Sophia was ADOPTED on 1/2/2009 and now has a new bunny friend to play with and snuggle with. This will help her over her loss of her Mommy. UPDATE: Sophia was adopted and bonded to another rabbit.
Another shot of Holly Berry. Isn't she adorable?! UPDATE: She's settled down nicely. She's not as fearful as she was when she first arrived at the shelter. She's in need of a warm and safe and loving home. ADOPTED FROM THE SHELTER 1/2/2008!
Holly Berry having some lunch. ADOPTED FROM THE SHELTER ON 1/2/2009!
Nelson is a very sweet bunny but will take patience to earn his trust. He likes to explore but does so very slowly, first coming maybe a foot out of his cage then running back in, then coming three feet out and jumping back in.He doesn't bite, but will give warning nips when he's uncomfortable. He hates being picked up but he does like being petted. He is shy around women it seems and approaches men more willingly. Once comfortable he's quiet the little dancer, he'll kind of shimmy around quickly shaking his little toosh while he takes these short little tap-dancer steps, and he's also nice to have around because he doesn't chew anything. He's never touched the carpet or the wood furniture, so he doesn't necessarily need constant and relentless supervision. His favorite veggie so far is broccoli and he'll jump at the chance to get at a carrot (literally).ADOPTED 1/4/09!
Nelson exploring. He's a great little guy with beautiful markings and a thick white snowball coat. He has big beautiful deer eyes and is a nice quiet companion that needs a patient owner and ample space to cautiously explore and do his little dance in.ADOPTED 1/4/09!
Look how much I've grown! Snowball is a darling sweet rabbit. His ears are HUGE as is his heart. He loves to be loved on and pet. He is now getting gray on the tips of his ears. He is not done growing for sure but he sure is a beautiful rabbit. Snowball is currently at the Folsom Petsmart on Iron Point Road. ADOPTED 1/19/2009
Snowball is ready for adoption! Look at his long tail! He is such a little love. His foster Mom says he is the sweetest foster rabbit she has ever had. Sweet little Snowball is going to have to stay in foster care a bit longer then expected. Seems Snowball thought he was a little bigger then he is. He attempted to jump and climb out of a 36" tall exercise pen and caught one of his back toes and broke it as he was attempting to "escape". He is going to be just fine. His toe is currently in a splint and he is on pain medication. Snowball is getting lots of love and attention from his foster Mom. I've been around Snowball and he truly is the friendliest rabbit! ADOPTED 1/19/2009!
Another view of Valentino. He is an absolute doll. He flops over and really likes to be pet.
Indy is one of Shania's babies. Born 7/20/2008. She is a darling female rabbit who is bonded with Lucy. ID # A473357A Intake date Born 7/20/2008 Adopted with her sister 3/7/2009
Lucy is the more social of the two and is tries to jump in your lap before you can sit down. Adopted with her sissy Indy 3/7/2009!
Lucy stands up to get a better look around. Both girls are very social and smaller then they appear in their pictures. Adorable! Adopted 3/7/2009
Barnaby is a sweet, playful, loving rabbit. He had some complications with his neuter surgery and has to have surgery again. He is simply darling. UPDATE: Barnaby has had his surgery and is fully recovered and ready for a new home. UPDATE: Barnaby was ADOPTED as friend for Shania on 3/5/2008.
Barnaby likes reconstructing boxes in his spare time. He appears to be shy when you first see him but don't let him fool you. Barnaby is quite the character. Boxes are a must have for Barnaby. If rabbits worked Barnaby would surely be a construction worker. He likes spending most of his day redesigning and shredding boxes and he isn't real quiet about it. Let's put it this way if rabbits could work Barnaby would be the construction worker running the jack hammer. As you can see from the next picture he wears himself out after a long day working on his box designs....Barnaby puts a lot of thought into his work...
Updated picture of Barnaby 11/2008. He is such a love! He is lying on his foster Mom's lap, looking very comfy.
Poor Quinn had extremely long nails. It looks like a couple of her toes may have been broken, at some point in her life, so they are somewhat crooked. She is not bothered by this. She sat like an angel and let us trim her nails. I then held her on my chest and pet her and we just cuddled and stayed warm. She's a very sweet girl. Quinn is currently in foster care recovering from her spay surgery. ADOPTED 3/1/2009!
ADOPTED 4/3/2009! Poptart while in foster care recovering from his neuter surgery. His foster family and the family dog are hoping that his male hormones disapate soon. Poptart was in LOVE with the family dog. The cat on the other hand wanted nothing to do with him even though he tryed to make friends.
Nibbles has some Lop in her and we think Flemish Giant. She is very laid back and although she doesn't like to be picked up like most rabbits, she is loves attention and is very good with kids. ADOPTED!!!!
Nibbles takes time out to clean her large dulap (the area under her chin)Some females have larger dulaps then others. If she were to have babies, which she will not because she has been spayed, she would pull fur from her dulap to make a comfy nest.
Still busy bathing. Rabbits actually groom themselves more often then cats do.
Nibbles ponders a thought!
"Roger that I'm come-in for a landing" She reminds us of the flying Nun in this picture with her big big adorable ears!
Nibbles takes time to nibble on some parsley lovingly given to her by one of the volunteers at the shelter. Believe it or not she needs to put a few pounds on.
Nibbles exploring her cage. We sometimes put up several pictures of one rabbit....we just can't help ourselves....
"What did I hear something?"
Sunshine enjoys the outdoors while her foster watches her closly and snaps a view adorable photos!
Grayson taking a nap after playing.
Sweet Lucy needs her forever loving home. Sadly her owners lost their home and the company closed they where working for in California and they had to move to Texas. UPDATE: Lucy was ADOPTED to a wonderful new indoor home with a bunny boyfriend to boot on 5/30/2009. We are all going to miss our darling Lucy but are very happy she has a new home with wonderful new owners!
Lucy taking time out for a nap. Lilly and Lex came from the same home as Lucy. She gets along with Lex and is starting to get along with Lilly but Lilly is the boss. She is not bonded with Lilly & Lex but could be if anyone is interested in a trio. They are all small rabbits.
Lucy taking time to groom herself while be allowed to play outside while being supervised.
Arrgg matie's I'm in foster care being pampered waiting to be adopted.I don't need no pampering because I get around just fine but this lady keeps insisting on talking baby talk to me. I'm going to make her walk the plank soon if she doesn't stop it. She built me a tent so I can feel like I'm going down below on my bunny ship to get away from her. I come out when it's feeding time. She insists on giving me soft plush towels and a Princess Thumper Blanket (la de da), seems she forgot to bring the Princess along with the blanket. I just push them aside and chew on my favorite box. When I get real upset at the pampering I move the litter box around although I have perfect litter box habits, I just do it to let her know that I'm running this bunny ship.
Cookie sits for a photo shoot outside with her new foster family. Adorable! ADOPTED 6/6/2009!

Dash was actually trained in just a 15 minutes to hop through this wicker ring. He was hesitant at first that he could fit and only put his front half of his body through and then went for it and hopped out the rest of the way. Dash is easily trained.
Dash looking handsome in his basket.
Dash is a very playful, gentle rabbit.
Darling Grover had malaclussion and had to have his top and bottom front teeth removed. He will make the perfect house rabbit because he will never chew on anything but his veggies will have to be cut up for him. Other then that he will pick up food with his lips and chew with his molars. During his recooperation time. The foster family dog thought he would help give Grover a bath.
More loving for Grover by Foster Doggy Nurse! Grover looks like he is loving it!
Although the bath felt good, Grover is not too thrilled with how his fur came out.
Grover shows Foster Nurse Doggy the correct way to do bunny hare.
