Christmas Eve a small paperbag left in a shopping cart in a busy shopping mall. Inside a bunny injured and shaking with fear. Some horrible person discarded of him as if he were merely a piece of trash. Fortunately luck was on this wee ones side that day. Recovered from his injuries Lucky is now safe and sound. Lucky is a young male Lionhead. He is a curious and playful little fellow. He is a bit shy due to his horrifying ordeal. He is learning to trust and is quite sweet. Lucky needs a loving FOREVER home where he will be treated with kindness. He is not garbage, he isn't a toy, he is a living breathing creature made by GOD. UPDATE: LUCKY WAS ADOPTED TO HIS FOREVER LOVING HOME 2/16/2007!

Gracie Rose was deemed "mean" by a local shelter Vet. Gracie Rose was scheduled to be put down because the Vet said "she didn't get along with the rabbit". FUR immediately made arrangements with the help of The New Hope Animal Foundation to rescue her. Gracie Rose is as sweet as her picture. She is a charming mini-lop who gets along great with her people friends. (SC)

1-lb 3 oz. She is so thin that she was able to fit through a

Grayson (gray chinchilla) and Hoppy Hope are two very sweet female mini-lops. The two where neglected by their previous owner who dumped them in the night drop at the shelter. Both where starving and had fur loss due to malnutrition. Grayson and Hoppy Hope are currently in foster care where they are receiving treatment and lots of tender loving care as they recover from the severe neglect they received. They will not be available for adoption until they have fully recovered.

Chance won over the hearts of not only a new family but Ellie and Snoopy too! Chance is a little protective of Ellie so she divides her time between both bunny boys. One thing is sure, Ellie wants for nothing; she is pampered by her family and her two bunny friends.

Enlarge photo 129
129
Snoopy was an older rabbit who was dumped by his owners who also neglected him. Snoopy had malaculsion too which also caused a runny eye. Noop as he is called by his new family had his incisors removed and his eye treated. Snoopy is king of the house. He thinks he is more of a person then a rabbit. A bunny love match was made when he met Ellie. Snoopy has his own YouTube video and has been featured on Good day Sacramento. Artist Ann Ranlett from Auburn has painted Snoopy's portrait several times.

Enlarge photo 130
130
Ellie was rescued from the Yolo shelter. She was severly neglected by her former owners. She had mallaculsion (the teeth do not align properly) on both the upper and lower front teeth. It was so bad her lower incisors were sticking out of her mouth and her upper incisors where so long they were curled almost under her tongue. Her nails hadn't been trimmed which caused some of her nails to tear off. She had been at the shelter for so long her fur was beginning to fall out due to the stress. She appeared to be a mean bunny but who wouldn't be cranky after the lack of care she received. Ellie was rescued by FUR and quickly received the medical care she needed. We had both her top and bottom teeth removed (rabbits pick up food with their front teeth and chew with their back molers). We placed her in foster care where she would receive loving care. Ellie was adopted to a wonderful home as a friend for Snoopy.

Silly came to the shelter with a fracture to his left hind leg. We were instructed by the Vet to keep him quite for at least a month while his leg healed. Easier said then done with this Silly Hopper. The daughter of the family that adopted Silly had a soft spot in her heart for the less fortunate rabbits with injuries. Silly's leg is healed, although his leg sticks out a little to the side it doesn't stop him from bouncing off the walls in his new home where he is loved dearly.

Bonnie came to the shelter in November and a few days later gave birth to several babies. Bonnie was adopted by Robin. Bonnie rules the house and is quite mischievious. Son Oliver joined his Mom Bonnie and the two darlings are known as "Double Trouble" Seems Oliver inherited Bonnie's need to explore and find things to get into. They were once found in a large tub of food having a feast.

UPDATE: Sadly Mammia Mia didn't make it through her spay surgery. She had a heart attack right after the surgery was over. Sophia did just fine but is very sad and misses her Mommy. We will all miss Mammia Mia but Sophia will miss her the most. Sophia is recovering in foster care where she is receiving a lot of TLC. Sophia was ADOPTED on 1/2/2009 and now has a new bunny friend to play with and snuggle with. This will help her over her loss of her Mommy.
UPDATE: Sophia was adopted and bonded to another rabbit.

Nelson is a very sweet bunny but will take patience to earn his trust. He likes to explore but does so very slowly, first coming maybe a foot out of his cage then running back in, then coming three feet out and jumping back in.He doesn't bite, but will give warning nips when he's uncomfortable. He hates being picked up but he does like being petted. He is shy around women it seems and approaches men more willingly. Once comfortable he's quiet the little dancer, he'll kind of shimmy around quickly shaking his little toosh while he takes these short little tap-dancer steps, and he's also nice to have around because he doesn't chew anything. He's never touched the carpet or the wood furniture, so he doesn't necessarily need constant and relentless supervision. His favorite veggie so far is broccoli and he'll jump at the chance to get at a carrot (literally).ADOPTED 1/4/09!

Enlarge photo 166

Look how much I've grown! Snowball is a darling sweet rabbit. His ears are HUGE as is his heart. He loves to be loved on and pet. He is now getting gray on the tips of his ears. He is not done growing for sure but he sure is a beautiful rabbit. Snowball is currently at the Folsom Petsmart on Iron Point Road. ADOPTED 1/19/2009

Enlarge photo 168

Snowball is ready for adoption! Look at his long tail! He is such a little love. His foster Mom says he is the sweetest foster rabbit she has ever had. Sweet little Snowball is going to have to stay in foster care a bit longer then expected. Seems Snowball thought he was a little bigger then he is. He attempted to jump and climb out of a 36" tall exercise pen and caught one of his back toes and broke it as he was attempting to "escape". He is going to be just fine. His toe is currently in a splint and he is on pain medication. Snowball is getting lots of love and attention from his foster Mom. I've been around Snowball and he truly is the friendliest rabbit! ADOPTED 1/19/2009!

Barnaby is a sweet, playful, loving rabbit. He had some complications with his neuter surgery and has to have surgery again.  He is simply darling.
UPDATE: Barnaby has had his surgery and is fully recovered and ready for a new home.

Barnaby likes reconstructing boxes in his spare time. He appears to be shy when you first see him but don't let him fool you. Barnaby is quite the character. Boxes are a must have for Barnaby. If rabbits worked Barnaby would surely be a construction worker. He likes spending most of his day redesigning and shredding boxes and he isn't real quiet about it. Let's put it this way if rabbits could work Barnaby would be the construction worker running the jack hammer. As you can see from the next picture he wears himself out after a long day working on his box designs....Barnaby puts a lot of thought into his work...

Poor Quinn had extremely long nails.  It looks like a couple of her toes may have been broken, at some point in her life, so they are somewhat crooked.  She is not bothered by this.  She sat like an angel and let us trim her nails.  I then held her on my chest and pet her and we just cuddled and stayed warm.  She's a very sweet girl. Arrgg matie's I'm in foster care being pampered waiting to be adopted.I don't need no pampering because I get around just fine but this lady keeps insisting on talking baby talk to me. I'm going to make her walk the plank soon if she doesn't stop it. She built me a tent so I can feel like I'm going down below on my bunny ship to get away from her. I come out when it's feeding time. She insists on giving me soft plush towels and a Princess Thumper Blanket (la de da), seems she forgot to bring the Princess along with the blanket. I just push them aside and chew on my favorite box. When I get real upset at the pampering I move the litter box around although I have perfect litter box habits, I just do it to let her know that I'm running this bunny ship.
