Loved to see that there are so many different varieties of birds here in the valley, thanks for sharing them! I am trying to identify the birds I am feeding, but I can't make up my mind between a house finch and a purple finch. They don't have a 'raspberry' look, but the males (guessing) are all red heads with a lighter red chest. I'm hoping they're not just plain 'ole house sparrows(they have the finch bill)... The mourning doves keep telling their friends about the new feeder, but so far the finches outnumber the doves. :) Thanks to you, I may have to go and visit Corn Creek! - Becca, Tue, 3 Jul 2012 6:21PM

Hi – nice and easy collection of great bird pictures – I found it as I tried to find out about a black bird I see when visiting Las Vegas (from Los Angeles) – it has a long tail, is all black and it has a "song" or sound that is absolutely extraordinary, "long", loud, and sounds like it would have been generated by a pipe or instrument of some sort. This bird is not seen in Los Angeles – I think – because I believe I have in fact seen it near a Home Depot near Marina del Rey...recently. And, I have no memory of seeing it in Las Vegas either, for longer than maybe ten years, but I could be mistaken about that... There was only one picture on your site that showed something similar, but unfortunately it had the tail chopped of – Brewer's Blackbird...so I can't know for sure, but the bird does look like the bird I'm looking for... - Gunnar, Mon, 7 May 2012 7:32PM
