"Coated vs. Hairless:
 Currently the American Hairless Terrier accepts two varieties – the hairless and the coated carrier. While the hairless is the ultimate goal, the current gene pool is still small and in need of strengthening. New bloodlines are created through carefully considered crosses back to superior quality purebred Rat Terriers in a UKC sanctioned outcross program. In time, as our pedigrees gain stronger footing, the outcross program will be eliminated, leaving only the hairless variety."
