Italian Greyhounds
*********************

The Italian Greyhound is a very old breed whose name is deceiving.  The breed is not Italian in origin but believed to have been developed by the ancient Egyptians.  However, they were so popular during the height of the Roman Empire, that they became dubbed ‘Italian Greyhounds’.

Italian Greyhounds are considerably more than a small, short coated dog.  They are active, demanding and can be difficult to housetrain.  Italian Greyhounds are not recommended for households with young, rough or pre-school children or large dogs.  Living with an Italian Greyhound is like living with a 5 yr old child.  Therefore, they just do not fit into many households or lifestyles.  But if you want a loving, substitute child and are willing to take them as they are - then the breed may be right for you.
