Chinese Cresteds
The Chinese Crested comes in two varieties, the hairless and the powderpuff. Both varieties can be born in the same litter.
The Chinese Crested is very people oriented and lives to be loved. They are intelligent, fun loving little clowns. Today you find Chinese Cresteds in the conformation show ring, obedience ring and even in agility competition.
The hairless variety has long silky hair on its head, feet and tail. While the powderpuff is completely covered in long silky hair. Some grooming is required for both varieties. Keep in mind that each individual hairless Chinese Crested has varying degrees of body hair (from almost nothing to very hairy). The dogs you see in the show ring have been cleaned up (groomed) for presentation. The powderpuff variety requires routine brushing to keep its coat matt free. Shaving the hair from ears and face of either variety is permissible and strictly a personal preference.
