Thanks for your interest in my work.
For years I have traveled the country showing my art, but at 66, I have decided that I prefer to put my energy into creating.
I have a few galleries that exhibit my art, but I miss the personal contact with people. Thus, I have decided to explore the web.       I enjoy meeting the people who buy my work. It is important to me to receive input from those who react to my work.
Although,  I have a BFA in Art and Art History,  I have discovered that just doing has been the best teacher for me.

7th anniversary Copper Roses
4. 7th anniversary Copper Roses  (January  26, 2016)

I have made these Copper Roses © which are colored by moving the flame of my torch over the Copper. The Leaves are Brass brazed to a steel stem which I cover with Brass. Everything is sealed with crystal clear acrylic that will preserve their beauty for many years. A small bit of colored cotton is hidden in the center, holds rose oil. A card explaining how it was made, is included. My signature with © is on the back of a Brass Leaf. Except for the smaller Copper Rose in the White Gift Box, all the other Copper Roses come with a Glass Vase and a little Copper Heart with names and a date. Welded Steel Tree with Copper Leaves
11. Welded Steel Tree with Copper Leaves  (March 15, 2007)
This welded tree is carefully built  of molten steel.  After  the base and all of the branches are formed, I shape each copper leaf  and  brazes it to its own branch with a drop of brass.  When all are attached, I heat and cool each leaf to various  rose-red colors.  It is welded to a steel rotating base so that you can view and enjoy it as a 3 dimensional sculpture. This piece is aprox. 10½" tall x 9" X 6".   about 20 hours from start to completion.

16. Calendar 2011  (February  2011)
A 2011 calendar from the Norman Art Council arrived this morning, featuring my copper roses for the month of February.
I remember submitting some images but it was a long time ago, and as I never heard anything more, I assumed that the project was scraped.
If I had known I might have bought some.

Copper Prosperity Feathers
26. Copper Prosperity Feathers  (June 2, 2006)
Many  Native Americans believe that the gift of a feather is an honor and that it brings Prosperity.
This flamed colored copper feather  is protected with a clear enamel.   The brass bead  is similar to ones used in trade during the 1700 and 1800.
Brass, the color of the sun,  symbolizes happiness .
For best results, hang on east wall, east where the  sun rises and prosperity  begins.

Rugged Crosses, welded steel with brass.
31. Rugged Crosses, welded steel with brass.  (10/22/04)
During the late 1960's as I begun welding, I had few resources. I wanted to make a gift, something unique, something strong, for a dear friend. The song "the Old Rugged Cross" popped into my head. I had a vision of a cross with a asymetrical abstract design made from various sizes of  steel welding rods.
Since then i have been fascinated abstracting within the cross shape. Later,as a decorative and symbolic devise, I added brass. Brass is a symbol of Happiness and Life as it is the color of the sun.
Thus, I hope my crosses bring their owners much Strength and Happiness.

SWDreamscape
32. SWDreamscape  (June 29, 2003)
The  vastness of this land gives rise to your hopes and dreams.  The feathers represent prosperity  while the brass beads are for happiness.
Joy has created this copper shield using her unique method of pounding and embossing. The coloration occurs by sliding the flame of the torch across the metal which is then quickly cooled in water. The  copper is mounted on suede matboard. Both the shield and the feathers are protected with  a clear sealer.
Sold 7/15/03
I will have some other ones available soon.
