Marriage Equality Rhode Island in response to the California Supreme Court’s decision on Proposition 8, held a candle light rally Tuesday evening at Memorial Park across from the Court House in Providence.  Supporters were joined my news reporters, Mayor David Cicilline and State Rep. Frank Ferri, in expressing their hope for action in the Rhode Island Legislature.

In honor of Valentine's Day, the February Drag Brunch at Downcity Restaurant was a fundraiser for MERI.

This month the ladies raised over $1000 in tips, which they donated to MERI.

MERI held a news conference at 3 PM and then had a rally at 5 PM tied to other rallies in other states, all to be held 2 days prior to Valentine's Day.

MERI hosted a celebration of the recent landmark decision in Connecticut allowing gay and lesbian couples to marry featuring the Rhode Island premiere of the newly released documentary, Saving Marriage at RISD.

They were joined by two of the three couples who brought suit in Connecticut and after 8 long years WON !!!

One year on and we are getting married!  MERI Rallied to celebrate the one year anniversary of the Massachusetts Supreme Court decision granting RI residents the right to marry.  Bringing their licenses, their pictures and their families, couples from RI celebrated the right to marry.
