I am sure that this event went a long way to settling the need to acknowledge and to thank all of the young men who were not heralded as heros or held the highest ranks but who played valuable roles in the war effort and sacrificed so much for their participation. It gives everyone a chance to say thank you. For me, my uncle is remembered as a fine father to his children, a fine husband to Lorna and an example to everyone by his courage and his commitment.
