Playdays This folder contains pictures of the various Playdays (Funmatches) and Pet Expos we participated in our quest to attain breed recognition.
Rat Terriers were not an accepted breed until January 1999, so we use at attend Playdays, Funmatches, Pet Expos, and Rare Breed Shows to showcase our breed. We still attend the yearly Connecticut Pet Expo as a public service to showcase our breed and to educate the public on responsible breeders versus puppymills, backyard breeders, and promote breed rescue.
Prior to breed acceptance, the Rat Terrier had some dogs that were long legged and short legged. Once we received breed recognition, the short legged type became the Teddy Roosevelt Terrier.
Some of these pictures show the short legged type as well as Robin & I giving a breed seminar on the differences. Date(s): September 1, 2007. 1 - 2 of 2 Total. Shared |

Playdays in Enfield This album contains photos of the three Rat Terrier Playdays that Robin, Helene & I organized, sponsored, and hosted.
Prior to 1999, we had not received UKC breed recognition so these fun events were our only source of competition and way of promoting our breed. These Playdays were instrumental in assisting us in attaining UKC recognition, as it united the Rat Terrier community, promoted the breed, and helped us form ARTA (American Rat Terrier Association). ARTA become the first Rat Terrier Breed club as well as the National Parent club for the UKC Rat Terrier. |
