DNA2Diamonds
I was searching for a lasting tribute to honor my beloved Ariel.  I wanted a unique way to commemorate and celebrate the love, fun and friendships I enjoyed as her owner.  I decided to have a diamond created as a lasting tribute to my beloved Ariel.  She was more than a pet to me, she was a good friend and part of our family.

Ariel was a Rat Terrier.  Although the breed had been around for over a hundred years, hunting squirrell and small game, used on farms to catch vermin; they remained a "rare breed".  I decided it was time to get this breed the official breed recognition I felt they so deserved and thus began my journey in the Dog Fancy.

Through my involvement in attaining breed recognition, I met and began to work with many people in the United States with the same ambition and desires.  What started out as a hobby became a fun activity I enjoyed with my son and friends and still do so today, but with my grandchildren as well!

Thanks to Ariel, I have made lasting memories, friendships, and have enjoyed a journey I never imagined.  When she was diagnosed with terminal cancer, I started to think of how to pay her tribute in a unique and lasting way.  After researching several options, I decided on a man-made diamond as a keepsake that will be a future family heirloom.

I researched several companies and decided upon DNA2Diamonds.  They offer several colors, sizes and will customize your settings.

Please come visit this album to see this wonderful way I am "capturing" the memories forever.

I am in the process of having a man-made diamond created from the DNA carbon found in the fur of my Ariel by DNA2Diamonds.  I found another source who could do this process, but found DNA2Diamonds to be more reasonably priced.  (They will custom set your diamond too.)

After much consideration, I have selected earrings.  I have submitted the fur (where they will extract the DNA needed for the diamond creation) and will have my special memorial in about 2 1/2 months.  I will post pictures of the finished product once I get them.

Ariel's tribute:

Ariel crossed over to Rainbow Bridge April 4, 2009 around noon.

My journey into the Rat Terrier world really began with Ariel, my first foundation dog and wonderful ambassador to the breed. She went on to produce nice dogs that also produced nice dogs, hence adding to the foundation of our wonderful breed.

More important than that, she was our (my son Jim and I) best friend and a great ambassador for the numerous pet expos, play days, fun matches, and parades she attended and participated in.

She is the reason I became involved in assisting in attaining breed recognition. She is the reason I became involved with the RTCA (AKC - and later VP) ARTA (UKC - and Pres) plus the other Rat Terrier clubs and groups I belong to. She WAS the reason I worked so hard to get our breed the acceptance and recognition she so deserved.

Jim and I cried yesterday as we held her and these pictures show us crying (as I am now while typing through my tears). My world was a better place with her in it. Gilda Radner said it best: "I think dogs are the most amazing creatures; they give unconditional love. For me they are the role model for being alive."

Gone but NEVER to be forgotten, meet you at Rainbow Bridge, my best friend!!

In Memory, gratitude, devotion and total LOVE,

Your honored owner, Donna
