The 65th Annual Volunteer Awards Luncheon for Volunteers at the George E Wahlen VA Medical Center in Salt Lake City, Utah, was a big success and a nice tribute to our dedicated Volunteers.

1 Volunteer Services Manager Mrs Belinda Karabatsos was the "MC" for the event (and did a GREAT job).
2 Shella Stovall, the Acting Director, gave a very nice welcome and "thank-you's" for the Volunteers, who combined had over 126,842 of Volunteer hours for 2010. Awesome! She also thanked the transportation teams who combined drove over 4,800,000 miles getting Veterans to the Hospital and back home.

4 Special recognition to some very special people. My good friend Dan Murphy is center in the black top.
5 Don Bennion, Gentleman and Volunteer, was celbrating his 93rd Birthday at the luncheon. He was also recognized for having over 2,500 volunteer hours.
6 My Friend Meta Staker was also recognized for having over 2,500 hours.
7 My friend A.J. Staker, Meta's husband, was recognized for having over 3,750 volunteer hours. That is over 6,250 hours between the husband and wife team! GREAT Job!

9 Meet my friends Mr and Mrs Stan Rosenthal. Two very wonderful people!
10 George Haltaufderhyde was recognized for having over 11 years and 6,401 hours of Volunteer service with the Disabled American Veterans. Way to go George!
11 My friend Stan Rosenthal, receiving the Outstanding Service Award for having over 12,635 volunteer hours! Stan represents the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

13 A Dear Friend Jeff Sagers, of Natural Designs Inc., and IED Ewell present the Volunteer Service Manager a Special "Heart" for all the heart she puts into taking care of our Veterans and Volunteers.
14 Hey, what a treat, a surprise appearance by Salt Lake City VA Hospital Direcor Steve Young, who has been on Special Assignment to a VA Hospital in Chicago to help Improve the quality of care there. What a neat guy.
15 Volunteer Service hours helped generate over $790,692 dollars in donations for the VA Hospital in FY 2010. Great job Volunteers!
16 IED Ewell sneaks a minute with Director Young. The Director truly cares about every single one of our Veterans and Volunteers! By the way Director, I need a job (ha, ha).
17 My dear friend Eldon. Very few know as much about the VA Hopital "in's and Out's" and going's on, as well as Eldon does! Eldon had over 4,864 Volunteer hours last year. Wow!
