The above video is the "Unauthorized" video to the song "Chris Mason (Here on this Battlefield)". Thank you "Joe Monto" for putting the words, my son Chris carried in his soul and heart, into a message.

PRCA COWBOY / US PARATROOPER CHRIS (ED) MASON WAS KILLED IN ACTION BY AL-QAEDA TERRORIST FORCES IN THE SMALL TOWN OF SINIYAH, IRAQ (near FOB Summerall)... THE ABOVE VIDEO IS THAT STORY.

"THE AMBUSH"
28 November 2006 @ 12:40 EST

I would have to say we all, including Mason, had an especially strange feeling about going outside the wire that night. The reason was quite simple; we were the first ones to go back into the city after a three day raid we conducted there. We all knew there was something waiting for us, just didn't know what, or who would live to tell about it.

A foot patrol was sent in ahead of us. We would be the "Extraction Team" so we sit just outside the city in the dark on a dusty side road. Mason was the driver of the Humvee second in line.

The call came in, the foot patrol had engaged the enemy, wounding one Al-Qaeda terrorist. They called for us to come in as fire support, and get them out.

Two blocks from the linkup point Mason' Humvee came under attack from both sides of the road. Mason' gunner was engaging the enemy with his 50. Mason was attempting to maneuver his Humvee so he and his gunner could break out. Without warning there was a sudden shock wave, blast of heat, and flames bluring our line of vision. We became confused, and unsure of what was taking place. As we regained our line of site we realized we had not only driven into a terrorist ambush, but Mason had been hit by an extremely powerful IED. It was all going down in front of us, and Mason' Humvee was the target. After the blast his Humvee lay upside down in the street. We attempted to get to Mason, but enemy continued to fire at the Humvee. The fire from the explosion swallowed Mason' Humvee, and rounds were cooking off in every direction. We fired back with our 50s until the enemy with drew. Still we were unable to save Mason. It is safe to say he died instantly from the blast of the IED. DOD list Cpl Mason as being killed by small arms fire, but we were there, and on the ground..

Bottom line is he was doing what needed to be done for his country.

The President of the United States, George W. Bush, authorized on Feb 1, 2007, in a hand written letter, that the following quote be placed on Chris's headstone....

"We Will Not Tire, We Will Not Falter, And We Will Not Fail".

There are few men who will pick up a weapon and fight for this country, and my son was one of the few. He died on the battlefield, not backing up or looking for a place to hide, he was moving foreward into the fight.

Strength and Honor son, I stand proud for you, Airborne!

I remember this day each year because Chris affected me that much.  While only after his death did I become aware of him, I know that God put him in my path for a reason and that was so I could learn about Jesus Christ.  Chris brought me to him and I know that I am a better person for this.  Thank you Chris, you saved my life.  You are always in my prayers

I am truly sorry for your loss. My older brother is currently in Iraq and there is not a day that goes by where I am not worrying about him. He more out in the field this time around and I do miss him so. I have 2 beautiful kids that love and miss him just as much. I cant say that I know what it feels like to lose a brother or son, but I can say that you have mine and my kids condolences for everything that has happened. I have spent the past few hours looking over his page on myspace and everything that he has said about GOD and his faith in him has really touched my heart. I am truly glad that I got the opportunity to look it over. I am a single mom of my 2 kids and it is really hard with my brother being away. When he was home he helped me out in so many ways. To Chris' brother, I bet it was hard for you when you lost Chris. I don't know what I would do if I lost my brother. Your brother Chris and my brother Chris are a lot alike. They were not afraid of dying for the same reasons. My condolences are with you and your family more than ever. Thanks for setting up this page and sharing it with not only me but everyone around.. Sincerely, Sara Maddox of Cartwright, Oklahoma.

I just wanted to say I am so sorry for the loss of your son.  I came across your MySpace page by what seemed like an accident.  I am a medic and came back from Iraq in December.  On November 13, 2007 I lost my own very good friend PFC Casey Mason while we were out on a combat partol.  I understand the pain of losing a friend and can never understand the pain you must feel losing your son. Trying to save soldiers like your son is the reason that I became a medic and strive to be the best medic I can everyday.  Your son paid the ultimate sacrifice for our country and am so proud to call him one of my brothers.  Thank you!!!

Chris Mason is a hero in my book.  He paid the ultimate price for our freedom.  I served in Iraq in 2003.  When I see things like this it brings me to tears.  There are so many young men and women who are willing to sacrifice it all to keep this country free.  My heart goes out to the loved ones that Chris left behind.

I want all Americans to know that if it was not for the Miltary fighting over there there would be no Freedom for anyone. I never knew the pain and heartache of losing a brother on the battlefield...Desert Storm was over too quick for that, thank God.  It was not until I left the Army and became a Police Officer that I lost a friend, make that, several friends who died in the line of duty.
The hurt never goes away.  When you lose a friend, a brother, with whom you have fought and shed blood...shared long, cold nights when no one else would stand up and do it, laughed together and just enjoyed life; there is nothing that ever takes that pain away.
I cherish the memories of my fallen brothers, just as you cherish Chris, and I smile when I recall the things that we did together and then I cry when I recall the night that they were taken away.  No one can ever take those memories.
I thank Chris for giving his life for our country, it is men like him that have made this country over the years...and it is men like him that will continue to keep us free, as well as those who will come home and go on to enjoy the freedoms that we have.
I thank you for having a son like Chris.  A son who was firm in his faith, believed in his God and his country.  As a parent, "You done good!" as my papaw used to say.  God Bless you and your family, and never let Chris' memory grow dim!

Hi there, I don't know you but I just wanted to say thank you for what you did for this country. I was in the army but never made it past AIT due to fracturing my hip and having to have another knee surgery. I wish that I would have had the chance to serve our country for for a longer amount of time and gotten to experience Iraq. But once again I just wanted to say thank you for all that you did and all that you have done.

I did not know you sir but, your sacrifice will never be forgotten. I'm an Iraq War vet, but in no way consider myself your equal. The saying goes, " Some gave all and, all gave some." You gave all. You are a member of an elite group now. I had my chance but was not given such an honor as you were. To some that may sound crazy but, to those who were in country, it was the level most desired. It's what fuels the will to fight. Cpl. CHRIS MASON you knew that all to well. Your memory will now live forever with honor in the name of God, Country, and FREEDOM.

THANK YOU

My son is 22 years old and is a Sgt. His MOS is 88 Mike. He is getting ready to deploy for a second tour in Iraq next month.

Your son sounds like he was a really great person. Believed in what he was doing and willing to die for it. Makes me think of my son. Respect!!!

I am sorry for your loss but am greatful for people like your son and mine. Will keep you in my prayers and please pray for my son on his deployment. His name is Sgt. Robert Shortsleeves.

I wish I could have had the chance to meet such a remarkable young man. It's soldiers like him who make me appreciate our military even more. I'm a veteran and have served myself, but never in combat. I appreciate all you've done to raise such a wonderful person like Chris. I hope it's a comfort that we'll all meet him when our King Jesus returns. Thank you for making the effort to keep his memory alive by maintaining such a vast profile. God bless you richly with peace, love and joy in the Holy Ghost.

I thank the Lord for all the soldiers that are willing to put their life on the line everyday for all of us. It's such a huge sacrifce. This is what I call LOVE. "No greater love than one that would lay down his life for another" You will be in my prayers. Thank you for raising a god fearing man. God bless.

I cried as I looked at this page. I am so sorry for your loss. As family members we too give up so much and lose at times as well. I have two beautiful little girls and their daddy has served 3 tours in Iraq, although he physically came back, mentally and emotionally he did not. I am now a single mother of these two beautiful girls and their daddy is set for another tour. I keep all family members in prayer as well as those serving on the front lines of this war. Thank you for sharing his life with all of us.

Tears fill my eyes as I read the messages on Chris's page. Of a man that gave his life so that I may enjoy the freedom that we all have. To his parents and family, my heart goes out to you. What an honor it will be for me to add Chris to list of friends. To forever look forward to the day I will meet him face to face in heaven and to be able to tell him "Thankyou". God bless you for sharing your son with all of us.

First of all, Chris if can see this, thank you for your service in the military. To the Mason family, I'm truely sorry for your loss! My name is Tex Shadley and I'm a Christian and I'm married to a beautiful wife named Laura. We have one son who is 2 and his name is Christian Michael. I was looking at the page for Chris and while I was listening to the music and looking at everything,I began to cry. I couldn't the pain you all must of felt, but it did make me feel good to know the kind of man Chris was. It is inspiration to any man! I can tell how much he loved God! My grandfather served in the Army and was in WWII. My uncle was in the army as well and served in Korea. I have a brother in the Marines and he is in Japan right now. My wife has a cousin who is in the Marines. He was Iraq fro a while, but now they have him in Califronia right now. My brother might be going to Afghanastan. But I just wanted to tell you all, that I'm praying for you. You know I'm reminded of the song by Jeremy Camp,"There will be a day". I love that song. There will be a day where there will be no more pain,no more tears, no more fear, no more bad stuff at all. Praise God, I'm looking forward to that day! May God Bless you all and hang on to Jesus!

Mr. Mason~
I have kept up with your tribute in Chris's honor and have been honored to view his profile on Myspace often. I am a soldier advocate and working with The Centre For Neuro Skills and the VA to fight Congress for better treatment for our brain injured soldiers who are coming home with little or no assistance from the US Government. This is an outrage and I have been working hard to get the message out to fellow Americans. We had a Walk for Thought recently for the Brian Injury Association of America and of course my Focus was for the United States Servicemen and Women.
I know Chris is with God and his purpose here was served for 32 years of sharing messages with fellow Americans who would have likely not heard what God needed them to hear. Chris was chosen by God for the people of the United States of America.
I watch a majority of Liberal Americans have absolutely no regard for our troops and I promise you and especially Chris, I will never stop fighting and I will NEVER be quiet or rest. I have two small children to hand this Nation over to and they WILL know about Chris and all other soldiers serving this country and the REASON for it.
~God Bless Our Troops~

Thank you for sharing the life and story of such a special man and hero.  I have stood for several fallen heroes and it never gets easier.  I keep the program for each one and have a special place in my home for them.  If anyone asks, I tell them about the special men and women I had the opportunity to honor.  Cpl Mason will forever be watching over his fellow comrades and family.

God Bless You and thank you.

For every PGR funeral I attend for a fallen soldier, I try to collect the funeral program.  It contains the picture of the soldier, as well as life info.  I have the dash of my Silverado lined with (all too many) of these.  I NEVER want the faces, names, or life information of these brave souls to be forgotten.  I read every beautiful word on this page, and am going to print out Cpl Masons pic to add to my dashboard. My line of soldiers....

Chris lived such a powerful life - I know I would have loved to know him.  I saw in the video when he said "what I like to say is, we are the fabric that holds the flag together..." when he was talking about serving his country and "...because of America, this world is a better place."  I am thankful that he also reminded us that there is a war going on here at home as well, a war for our soul and the souls of all Americans.  And that the enemy uses real weapons against us to keep us from the knowledge of the Truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, so WE must continue to fight!  Thank you for Honoring this AWESOME AND AMAZING AMERICAN! Love in Christ, Michelle - aka Freedom Fighter

Chris,
Not a day goes by that I don't think of you.  I pray everyday for you, your family, and the ones who cared so much for you.  Even though I was one of your first team leaders I cannot explain how much you have taught me.  As I continue my journey through life just know that you hold a special place in my heart.  My wife, Ellen, has never seen me cry but everytime I watch the videos of you and listen to your powerful words I get choked up and begin to cry.  There is so much I remember about you, I have told your story to just about everyone I know.

I came across this wonderful memorial tribute site while on Halfway to Hazard's website. I cried while reading and viewing this page. Your son was and is an American Hero. I really appreciate the sacrifice that your son, and family have given. I am in the 10th grade and the other day we were discussing the war and sacrifices of the wonderful and also in my opinion, Heaven sent soldiers. I really am thankful. Now you and your family have your own guardian angel in heaven. Words can't explain the struggle and sacrifice that the soldiers have given. This website tribute is beautiful. Your son was and is an amazing man. May God Bless you and your family, and espically Chris in Heaven.

A TEAR ROLLED FROM MY EYE FOR SOMEONE I DON'T EVEN KNOW!
 -
TONY LEVERETT, Sat, 3 Jan 2009 8:55AM
To the Mason family,  Our son served with Chris at FOB Summerall and I can't tell you how many times we have shed tears for the troopers that were lost over there.  We are deeply moved by this ongoing tribute to your son.   We had the privilege of visiting Ft. Bragg earlier in December as the 1-505 PIR was redeploying to Iraq and I went to the museum honoring the 82nd Airborne.  While there I saw the memorial to the fallen troopers of the 82nd and specifically found each of the troopers from the 1-505, including your son, Chris.  I could not help but wipe tears from eyes as I thought of the loss each family has endured, but also the loss to our country from the self-sacrifice of the men and women serving in our military-May God Bless each of them.  Our son is currently the CO of the Rear Detachment and is studying to become a chaplain.  The videos of Chris and his personal testimony are a powerful message of what Christ means in one's life!!!
In my own restlessness while the troopers were at FOB Summerall I did a little revision of Psalm 91.  This is a tribute to all of the troopers of the 82nd.

     Psalm 91
     (82nd Airborne Revised Version)

1 The trooper who dwells in the hooch of the Most High,
will rest in the cool shade of the Almighty.
2 I will say to the Lord, “He is my parachute and my
hardened shelter,  my God, in whom I trust.”
3 Surely he will save you from the terrorist’s
ambush and from the deadly RPG.
4 He will cover you with his camouflage and under
his gunships you will find safety; his faithfulness
will be your body armor and earthen berm.
5 You will not fear the attack at night,
nor the bullet that flies by day,
6 nor the evil one that stalks in the darkness,
nor the suicide bomber that destroys at midday.
7 A thousand may fall at your side,
ten thousand at your right hand,
but it will not come near your bunker.
8 You will only observe with your recon planes
and see the destruction of the wicked.
9 If you make the Most High your commander in
chief-even the Lord, who is my refuge-
10 Then no harm will befall you,
no disaster will come near your FOB.
11 For he will command his air force concerning you
to guard you on all your missions.
12 they will watch over your travels with their night
vision goggles, so that you will not drive
  your vehicle near an IED.
13 You will tread upon the terrorists and the insurgents;
you will trample the Taliban and crush Al-Qaeda.
14 “Because he loves me,” says the Lord,
“I will rescue him; I will protect him,
  for he acknowledges my name.
15 He will call upon me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him when under attack,
I will deliver him safely home to his loving family.
16 With long life will I satisfy him
  and show him my salvation.”

Thank you for sharing the powerful memories of your son with all of us.  We trust the Lord gives you strength each day to face down the evil one and to always remember there are others that remember and care as well.

As i remember chris he was a strong man of faith. The bullfighter that brought many of bullriders to god. A prayer before each event. The church services before the saturday proformance. The man all riders loved to see in the pen. He had your back in any storm. He'd step in an take a horn to get you out. The man called chris is not just one of the best. He was sent by god for all of us. Not just the bull riders that helped to get a bull off of or that soldier that he fought beside. A man sent by god to protect us all. Chris you had my back in every bullrideing. I know you had your fellow soldiers back as well. Your a good man an always will be.

To my Fallen Brother Cpl. Chris Mason, although I did not ever get the chance to meet you, or serve with you in IRaq, I now the man , and the courage it takes to be that man and the causes that we all serve for, and are willing to accept in death, to preserve our freedoms , and that of the ones who seek out that freedom. I proudly serve my country, and I proudly move forward in your honor and of all of you , my Brothers and sisters who have come before me. When I go places in Iraq, I get the distinct feeling, that I've just stepped where you once walked, and that alone inspires me to keep moving forward , as you always did with pride , courage, honor, and "Duty to Country". As I sit for Thanksgiving Dinner tommorrow Cpl. Mason, I will say a prayer for you, and your loved ones that you have left behind, and I promise you that we all , will stay here, until our mission has come to a successful completion, and you will alway's live in our hearts, and I know that as I move about in the hot desert sand, I know that you are by my side with me, watching my back. May the Good Lord bring peace into your loved ones hearts, and I know that we will meet each other one day, standing watch at the gates of Heaven, where you will welcome me Home!

It is always horrible to lose one of our boys and especially one of the guys from the 82nd. Thank you so much for allowing us the opportunity to pay our respects and express our gratitude to your amazing son and those who served with him who have also fallen. God speed and many blessing.

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Mason, Your Son Chris was very lucky to have such wonderful Parents like you to share his brief time on here on this earth with. I visit this site very often, and Being a Proud Father of a U.S. Army Soldier who is a "Nightstalker", and serves with the Special Operations Command, and is an "Only Child", I wonder at times if I could have the spiritual strenght to do for my son, that you do for yours, If god chose to take him from me, like you and your wife do for chris, and after very careful thought, I would do the very same thing for him as well, as both your son, and mine fought the good fight for the very same reasons, becaise they love there country, and felt that they could and can make a difference in someone eles's lives. Like your son, mine loves his job , and loves being an Airborne special Ops Soldier, like chris was with the 82nd Airborne. Please know that as Thanksgiving draws ever so much closer this week, My family will be thinking of yours, and of Chris' heroic sacrificies, and we will be sending our love to chris through Prayer, and rememberence of all that he gave and did for his "Country". It is my hope that you will pray for our son as well, as well for all of the Living and Fallen heros of our great nation on "Thanksgiving Day", as we all know that Cris is on permenent Deployment serving our great Saviour Jesus Christ, and protecting all of his brothers and Sisters down here on Earth. He lives in my prayers every day and his Sacrificies will alway's be remembered by my family and by our son, who fights on , in his brothers Honor, and Memory! God Bless CPL. Tanner USMC( June10, 1986-Aug.29, 2007). You signed his page along time ago and I thought it was just another of his friends, not another Fallen Hero.
The page you have set-up for Cpl Mason looks great, wish mine looked as good. May God be with you and help you in the years to come.

Thank you Chris, for your sacrifice. For your amazing gift of love.. Even though we have never met, and I had never even heard of you until MYSPACE, you brought me closer to God. The night I discovered your site, I cried as I hadn't done in years, and fell to my knees and re-dedicated my life to Jesus. In death you have led me to the path that saved my very soul, just as in your life, you helped to save my freedoms and my country.. Thank you. For everything..

I just wanted to let Chris and his family know that to this day the rodeo family still suppports all that he was, rather in the arena or on the battlefield.  I never had the privledge of meeting Chris along my rodeo path, but am comforted by the courage he left us with.  He should be an example to all, young and old alike.  May peace be with you all.

You will come to know that what appears today to be a sacrifice will prove instead to be the greatest investment that you will ever make.

Thank you, Chris and all our soldiers, police, firemen, and EMT, for the service you provide and daily risk of your own lives to our country. Words can not heal the pain your family feels, but time and God's Grace will.  God Bless you all.

A quote from Tony Blair, PM of England.... Asked why he liked America so much, he replied, "I judge a country by the number of people wanting to get in, verses the number wanting to get out.
Only 2 men have died willingly for others, the first was Jesus Christ who died for your sins. The other was the American GI who died for your freedom."

May he sit with all the great men of all the ages who have fought and died for there fellow man, may he dine with god and swap stories with Gen. Robert E Lee. May he know the fellowship of the man his quoat of sleeping on the feild of battle he remminds me of, Gen. Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson.
But most off all let us never forget the Great man and friend of cowboys and crusader of god, where ever taps plays, where ever my saber is drawn in salute may chris's name be on my lips.

As I am reading and watching the videos of your beautiful tribute to your son, Chris, I am in tears. This is such a touching tribute to a beautiful man. I only wish that there were more Chris' and parents like you in our world. His love and faith in God is so complete and can be seen in his pictures. Not once in any of his photos did I ever see any signs of unhappiness in his face. I could tell that he loved what he was doing and felt confident that what he was doing was helping his fellow man in the eyes of God.

I am so moved by his story, thank you so much for sharing such a beautiful life with the world. It makes me so much more proud to be an American than I ever was before.

To Cpl Chris Mason; Thank you for fighting for me and our country so that I may have the freedom that I so enjoy today. You paid the ultimate price for freedom with your life and did it with such grace, honor and courage. Thank you for being a real American "Hero". May your legacy always live on through your parents and your beautiful life's story. Rest in Peace beautiful Soldier, Cowboy, Friend, and Son.

The Lord showed me several weeks ago how blessed and special this great Nations of ours is. He also showed me as, how we people of this great Nation are not doing with it what we were intended do with our blessings. He blessed this country and the people in it, so we could be a blessing to others. So many of us, me included have fallen short of this. But I believe that Chris understood this. I praise God for the people out there that give the most precious gift of all their lives. Greater love hath no man than to lay down his live for another. Thank you Chris

After reading all about Chris and going through his site I find myself speechless for the first time in along time. I am not usually one that is lost for words, but at this moment I am. I guess all I can really say is I wish I would have known this great man when he was alive, and would be honored to have him as a friend. He is truly a great hero in my book. So to his family and friends God Bless each and everyone of you. And Thank you to all our soldiers fighting for our freedom. We love you and what you do for this country. God Bless each and everyone of you.

I want everyone to know that Chris isn't just an icon, or idol, or image to be revered as a hero, but as a man of God. He loved the world and everyone in it. Not just the ones that shared his beliefs but also the ones that challenged his beliefs. He knew more about the love of Christ than anyone I've ever met. As a matter of fact, the first dance we shared he spoke of his love of Christ. He made those first few minutes hard to forget. That first dance led to a long time of love and knowledge of the Lord for me. As sad as it is Chris was the first person in all of my 33 years on this earth that presented the Lord as a friend to me instead of a threat. He didn't use the Lord against me to tell me what I was doing wrong, the Lord used him to tell me what to do that was right. I had the immense pleasure of dating Chris for a while and I cherish every minute we shared together. No man has ever been as comforting to me as Chris was. We took care of each other when we were sick, healthy, happy or sad and I miss him EVERY second of every day. Even though he is gone from me physically, he's with me emotionally. He has helped me connect with Christ and I will forever be grateful to him for that. So please don't look at him as just a soldier that died to keep our country safe. Please realize that he was a man that told the world how wonderful our eternal lives will be once we accept the love of God. I miss him more than I can express and I thank his parents for sharing him with us. Bless you G and Dynamite Sue. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

As I sit here on this night free...and look over this enormous tribute to such a true and good man; I feel truly blessed and so moved by the courage, honor, dignity and all the things that we every day people in our free world hold so dear- that Chris and men and women just like him serving are protecting me and mine. What is more, Chris paid the ultimate sacrifice- and we remember and we always will.

The men and women serving are truly the face of global human rights. While so many talk about freedom and democracy... you actually make it happen.  On this day in our time- Iraq is the centrepiece of the Middle East as the only democracy where women can vote and hold office and all children of Iraq equal each other under the law.  Iraq is free... and it is because of you and all those serving in our Military Forces, Militias, Reservists- give; and so many gave, all... here on this battlefield.

What a remarkable human journey this tribute to Chris is; and I feel awe, that I am even allowed to be here.  Hugs and love to Chris's family, friends, all the men and women who serve, Our Lord and Savior... and Chris.  Old Momma Nova.

Wow! What an amazing site! How honored we all are to have someone so brave and fearless to fight for us. I have friends anf family in the war now, this reminds me everyday that "WAR" is so final. I also have a cousin named Shan that is a rodeo clown in the Quad City area, so this whole story and wonderful life of this man hits home hard! What a blessing, Thankyou.

I did not know Cpl Chris Mason, yet as I sit on this caved in bed, here in Baghdad, I get choked up.  We are all brothers and sisters in the Army, and losing one is one too many.
There are not enough words of gratitude or praise that can be given to a hero such as this.  A selfless man, and soldier who paid the ultimate sacrifice.  I have chills up my spine and I cannot say how humble and thankful I am.  I left 9+ years of being in the Air Force to come to the Army to be a Combat Medic.  Due to the inspiration of Cpl Mason and all of our nations Fallen Heroes, I have dedicated my life to be my brother's keeper.  Cpl Mason is gone, but never forgotten.  God bless you.

I never knew Chris and have stumbled upon his myspace page because of a friend who I knew that was also in the 82nd Airborne. I lost my friend Danny December 8, 2007 to a drunk driver in Fort Myers, Fl. I wanted to give my condolences to the family and to also say thank you for the page. It is beautiful and it caught my eye. I pray for the soldiers everyday and I am so thankful that they help provide the freedom that I am living in. I wanted to say that this page was inspirational to me and it helps with the grieving of my friend Danny. I will never forget him, just as you will never forget Chris. I could never say thank you enough.

God bless you Chris and your beautiful family. We know the grief you are going through.  We lost two beautiful men one was a firefighter and a brother three months apart though not to this war. This happened in 2006. Mike Kelbch, Ross Stewart and
Chris I know have found each other and are having a blast together.
I wish I knew Chris but I'm sure we saw him perform at the Reno Rodeo.  For sure I know Mike knew him for he was the medic that took care of all our cowboy's owees.
When I watched Chris's memorial my heart went out to his family.
He will never be forgotten.
Bless you for adding me to his site.

Garland, this quote from Traveling Light by Max Lucado helped me a lot and fits exactly with the Psalms 139 verse that Chris sent you before he was killed. Max wrote “In God’s plan every life is long enough and every death is timely. And, this is important-though you and I might wish for a longer life for our loved ones, THEY DON’T. Ironically, the first to accept God’s decision of death- is the one who dies.

While we are shaking our heads in disbelief, they are lifting hands in worship. While we are mourning at the grave, they are marveling at heaven. While we are questioning God, they are praising God.”

In His Grace,

This is a poem someone had past along to me after the passing of a loved one of mine.....I thought of your family and decided to share it. Hope you enjoy....

IF TOMORROW STARTS WITHOUT ME

When tomorrow starts without me, And I'm not there to see,
If the sun should rise and find your eyes all filled with tears for me, I wish so much you wouldn't cry the way you did today, while thinking of the many things, we didn't get to say. I know how much you love me, As much as I love you, and each time that you think of me, I know you'll miss me too.

But when tomorrow starts without me, Please try to understand, that an Angel came and called my name, And took me by the hand, and said my place was ready, In heaven far above, And that I'd have to leave behind, all those I dearly love, But as I turned to walk away, A tear fell from my eye For all my life, I'd always thought I didn't want to die.

I had so much to live for, so much left yet to do, It seemed almost impossible, that I was leaving you, I thought of all the yesturdays The good ones and the bad, I thought of all the love we shared, and all the fun we had
If i could re-live yesturday just even for a while, I'd say good-bye and kiss you and maybe see you smile.

But then i fully realized, that this could never be, for emptiness and memories would take the place of me.
And when i thought of worldly things, I might miss come tomorrow, I thought of you, and when i did, My heart was filled with sorrow. But when i walked through heaven's gates I felt so much at home. When God looked down and smiled at me, from His great golden throne,

He said, "This is eternity, And all I've promised you." Today your life on earth is past, But here life starts anew I promise no tomorrow, but today will always last, And since each day's the same way, There's no longing for the past. You have been so faithful, so trusting and so true.

Though there were times you did some things you knew you shouldn't do. But you have been forgiven and now at last you're free. So won't you come and take my hand and share my life with me? So when tomorrow starts without me,
Don't think we're far apart,
For every time you think of me, I'm right here, in your heart. May God Bless You....Thank You!

Chris was the All American role model, Chris always knew the words to say to give confidence and strength he is greatly missed in the Rodeo world, but every time the buzzer sounds and I thank god for a safe ride I knew Chris was looking down with a smile on his face looking over each and every one of us! His strength, faith and always willing to put others before himself attitude is what this country needs more of!

This is such a beautiful honor to your son. I cried all the way through it as I know you must also but how very proud you are of him.I never meet a Vet that I do not welcome him home, thank him and give him a hug. I did not and will not have the chance to do so for your son in person. But as I know he is in God's hands now, I salute him and say "welcome Home Brother and thank you for all You have done for us." Just know your son touched many people and guided many down the right road and he will never be forgotten. God Bless you.

Our Heavenly Father, we pause at this time,
mindful of the many blessings you have bestowed upon us.
We ask, Lord, that you will be with us in the arena of life.

We as cowboys do not ask for special favors.
We don't ask to draw around the chute fighting horse, the steer that won't lay, or to never break the barrier.
We don't even ask for all daylight runs.

We do ask Lord, that you will help us live our lives here on earth as cowboys, in such a manner, that when we make that last inevitable ride, to the country up there, where the grass grows lush, green, and stirrup high, and the water runs cool, clear, and deep, that you'll take us by the hand and say -

"Welcome to Heaven cowboy, your entry fees are paid."

Thank you Chris and all the soldiers out there protecting us - ALL OF YOUR ENTRY FEES ARE PAID.

It woould have been an Honor to meet him.

I found this tribute to Chris last night...all day I could see his face in my mind, and my heart felt heavy.  And I thought, and thought, of what I could say to you, his family, that could even come close to expressing what I felt.  I thought of my own 13 year-old son, and thought of the sacrifice that Chris and you as his family made to protect our freedom, and to keep my boy safe. I thought of my growing up with a father who was a Viet Nam Vet, and thinking how glad I was that war was a thing of the past...how naive I was. Thank you for sharing your beautiful boy with us through his photos and words, and your memories.  Please know that you will be in my thoughts and prayers.

So many of us americans take for granted everything this countries freedoms given to us. Many of us have decided to take the oath of allegence and stand behind our great county in times of need. Much as Cpl.Mason did In many peoples eyes including mine and my families eyes he was a true hero. He was not only a soldier but a great son and had an undying love for his country and his love of rodeo. To the Mason family your son will be missed as a great american hero!

This day must be a bittersweet day for you.  I've been so humbled by your son.  He makes me want to be a better Christian and I didn't even know him.  You and I know where he is right now and he died with his boots on which sounds like the way he would have wanted to go.  Your son Garland is a man to be proud of too.  What good parents you are.  Your whole myspace page dedicated to Chris takes my breath away.  Have a blessed day and Happy Birthday Cpl. Chris.  I've been blessed by a man that I didn't even know.  Thank you God.

I have scrolled down and read and viewed so much about Chris, and even though I never met him, I feel that I KNOW him and am part of the family and YOUR loss is not only MY loss but our Great Country's Loss, as well. What an AMAZING and HEROIC YOUNG MAN!  : )
GOD BLESS OUR FALLEN HEROES!  Without THEM and the Good Lord, where would WE be.

Thank you, Chris, for you and your buddies' sacrifice as well as the sacrfice made by your entire family.  It will NOT be forgotten! I am a better person just 'knowing you'.
Much Love and Respect,

I wrote this poem a couple of months back. Hope you enjoy, for I was thinking of all who are and have served when I wrote it.

I am here defending you all
risking my life praying not to fall
protecting my country’
standing proud and strong
to all of you...my heart belongs
thinking of home, every passing day
I know I am doing what is right
no matter what some may say
I love my country
I will not back down
I shall live and die
defending my ground
forgotton by some
but remembered by those who care
It’s worth it all
For in this struggle I live upon a prayer
prayers for their freedom
I hear in my sleep
their pain is visible
it’s runs wide and deep
So I shall do what I can
and do what I must
I will protect and serve
For in my country I trust
The price is high
the risk is all
pray for my life
pray I never fall.
Think of me often
for I am thinking of you all
As I stand my ground
As I stand proud and strong!

Written For all those who have and are serving our country...You are not forgotton!

I have seen many my spaces that are beautifully dedicated family, military, but I have never seen one that touches your heart so much, I would love to have met your son, he is an inspiration to the Military and to the Paratroopers all around the world.  People believe that our rights are just given to us and do not think about if not for the Soldiers and their families they would not have these rights.  To me it seems I owe You as parents a debt of gratitude for Raising and Teaching your great sons the right way.  And to your Sons I owe our total respect for realizing what GREAT PARENTS they have and believing in God and Country.  And to Chris I say a special thank you for his ulimate sacrifice. TO the Mason family:
God bless all of you.  My thanks to Chris and all the soldiers that have served and lost their lives so that we may have freedom.  I honor all military men and women who serve for our right to be free.  My father served in 1991 Persian Gulf and lost his life at 36. The cost is high for freedom, and I just thank God for all those who serve to protect it.

I just want you all to know Chris is not forgotten.  This Memorial Day must be so very difficult a day for all of you.  I am sure each and every passing day is difficult, but the Memorial Day focus must intensify it all.  I pray for all those serving our country and their families, but today I prayed specifically for your peace.  Cpl. A great loss, a young man who followed in the same footsteps of legendary paratroopers of old, who fought and stood up for the same principles which this great nation was founded upon.
Having served as a trooper for 21 years myself, and losing so much over the years, in the wars and conflicts that I served in; I know what the family has gone through in these years past. My love and hearts go out to all of the family in their great loss.
My son, a paratrooper as well, is in his third tour in Iraq now, and should be home by Christmas of this year, my prayers are that I don’t share the same fate as this great family, but if so, I know that my son stands for the same principles that I taught him and he stands for this great country of ours, same as Chris did. Great men are not born; they become great men by their actions alone.
My love and condolences to this great family and all the families who have suffered this type of loss. Support our troops, honor our veterans.

Dear Mason Family,
Chris touched a lot of people, both here is the unit and abroad.  The world we walk seems a little darker with him not around.  I remember all the times he would come up to me and ask, in that deep southern drawl, "whats your favorite book?"  I still don't have an answer for him.
I know hes in a better place, and he will be there to greet us with a hug and a smile.  Maybe I'll have an answer for you then Chris.  Godspeed till we form again.

Your son's life was not given in vain. He sacrificed his life for the ideals of love of God and love of neighbor. Your son wanted to see a better world for people to live in - a world where oppression, fear, and despair do not rule, but one where hope, peace, love and kindness reign. That's where freedom is, and that is why your son is free today.  Your son's commitment will be remembered, and his sacrifice will be honored. May God bless you, comfort you, and give you peace.

It is only because of the sacrifice of so few that so many live so free.  Please know your honor and service is known by far more than say so.  Stand tall, despite the absence of awareness, protect the sheep, despite their ignorance, for honor surrounds you while you embody the principles of Jesus Christ.  Thank you for my freedom today.

Dear Mr. and Mr. Mason:
I shared Chris's website with my 9 yr old whose name is Mason.  Mason has wanted to be a soldier since I can remember.  I've always spoken very frankly about war, its neccessity, and the sacrifice it sometimes demands.  Yet he remains confident that he wants to serve his country.  As we looked at the website, Mason was so moved by all the great things Chris had done and we read everything and watched all the videos and cried together.  He wanted to tell you how proud he is of Chris and to thank you for your sacrifice.  As parents, we are no better than any other parents who have sent their children off to war.  When the time comes, I, too, will send my son into the service of his country with all the patriotism and bravery I see in you.  Thank you for this wonderful tribute to Chris.

Words really can not express the feelings stirred up in my heart.  Sorrow over the loss of a great man and pride that there ever lived such a wonderful person.  I wish I would have known him but I'm sure we'll meet one day.  Part of me thinks that maybe God made a mistake in taking him home so soon, but then I read all the messages and look at all the lives he has touched in his passing and I realize that God had a greater plan than any that Chris or his family could have ever imagined.  I hope more than anything that this realization can help your family cope with the loss of your son, brother, and friend.  He really is amazing.  Like Chris said, "[Death is] not the end of my life".  Man, was he right!  Thank you so much Chris for the light that you let shine so brightly through you and for the sacrifice you made for freedom and for love, and thank you Mason family for the gift that you helped bring into the world.  I hope that when you look back at the films you have of him that you know that you helped shape who he was to become.  Thank you again!!  Blessings =).

I would just like to say that I think this page is a wonderful tribute to a man that so obviously loved God and his country. I have family members that were in the Korean War and Vietnam Conflict. I sign this book in memory of my uncle who gave his life in Vietnam, my grandfather who served in both Korea and Vietnam, and my other family members that have made the choice to defend our great nation by joining the armed forces. God bless you all!

I wish I could actually put in words how much of an inspiration Chris is/has been/always will be to me. He is a true example of how people should live their lives. Death is always a tough thing to deal with, but God knew exactly what he was doing on November 28, 2006. I wish that I could bring half of the people to know Christ in my life that Chris has after his life was cut short. "The Lord works in mysterious ways."

Mr. and Mrs. Mason, I just want to let you know how sorry I am for the loss of Chris. I know it is a bit late but it has taken me this long to do so for various reasons.  I remember that December day that I spoke with my son Aaron and I asked him if he knew "Chris Mason?" He said yes ma'am and at that time I noticed a whole change in his voice.  Shortly thereafter, my son came home for bloc leave and his story begins.  The day Chris died my son did as well.  His struggles, with Chris' death, remain a battle in his mind and I know they will always be there. Although Aaron never went back after his bloc leave, he is still fighting the war in his head. Seems to be that Chris, although lower in rank, had the utmost respect of my son, which few men have been able to do. I know that Chris touched his life in more ways than one.  He speaks of Chris trying to help him with his beliefs of God and that he got him into reading the bible.  Although I do not know either of your personally, I cannot go through Mobile without having a total breakdown because I am thinking of your son and each time I see the sadness in my son's eyes, I know Chris is there. I never met Chris but I can am forever grateful for him witnessing to my son. Somehow I think that this has been the only thing that has kept Aaron going.  Know that Chris has touched our lives in more ways than one.  I only wish Chris was here for me to thank him personally.  There is not a day that goes by that you and yours are not in my thoughts and prayers.   May peace be with you.

I am so sorry for your loss, I love the webpages you have for Chris, it shows the person behind his name,it shows the love of god and family, and in times like this, it is the strength that helps to carry us thru. We don't know why things like this had to happen and the only answer I have is God must've needed an Angel, and Chris was one angel who sure earned his wings. Gain strength that your son will always live on thru you.
God Bless

First of all let me say that I’m not a man of many emotions. Every time I view Chris’ page I get chill bumps and I well up with tears of pride for the man that he was and the great loss of a national hero that he truly is. I can’t explain it… I never knew your son but he has touched my soul in some way that I cannot explain and I see from the many comments from others that he has somehow touched them as well. His loss was not in vain as he is an inspiration to all who view this site. He paid the ultimate sacrifice doing what he knew was right. God bless you and God bless all of our troops. Never forgotten….

Thank You for such a heartfelt myspace memorial to your beloved Chris, an American Hero. I type this with tears in my eyes. Tears of sorrow for your loss and of pride and gratitude for the courage and selfless dedication to duty of Chris. America is great ONLY because of brave men and women like Chris who wear the cloth of the nation and are willing to make the ultimate sacrfice as Chris has. May he rest in peace and may God comfort you until you re-unite. Until then you, may it be comforting to you in knowing that there are so many of us out here that care and are on your side, feeling your pain, and sharing in HONORING your loved one, our soldier and hero.

To the Family of Chris:  My heart breaks as I read about your son, but I know that you will see him again one day.  And those of us who were not blessed to meet him on earth, if we are born again will get to meet him in Heaven.  As I read the stories of soldiers killed in battle I am very thankful that there are those who will lay down thier lives for others.  My brother is Air Force and I pray everyday for God to keep him and every soldier fighting safe and to bring them home safely when the battle is over.  Chris' battle is over now, he is at home with Christ sitting at the feet of his Saviour and worshiping his God.  Thank you for the sacrifice your son made for my freedom.  We will never be able to repay those who chose to put thier lives on the line so that we can be free and live in the greatest country on earth.  Your family will be in my prayers.  Know that God is holding you up.

Held, written by Christa Wells recorded by Natalie Grant
"This is what it means to be held
How if feels, when the sacred is torn from your life
And you survive
This is what it is to be loved and to know
That the promise was that when everything fell
We'd be Held"

May God continue to hold you.

Chris, I didn't know you but my heart breaks that America doesn't have you right now on her side. I weep for your parents, family, friends and fellow soldiers, fellow heroes. Thank you for your love, your life, your sacrifice.  May G-d continue to bless America with people like you.

I am lost for words as I go through the website and look at all the pictures.  What an inspiration.  We were a military family (Iraqi Freedom Veteran) and appreciate the love and support we recieve from those that are close to us.  I can imagine how it feels to have the same love and support from ones you love and from those you have never met.  I have a disabled 4 year old - and I dream of what he may accomplish one day.  If he accomplishes the things that Chris has in becoming a true hero, I'd be proud.  God Bless You All..  All Our Love,  Steve, Laura and Lil' Jake.  Jay, Mainw

I have just finished reading the story of your sons life and also watching all the videos.I have to tell you learning all this about him has been an honor and being a friend on his page is even a bigger honor.Your son is a combination of all that is good and I think he touched on every emotion I have.It seems alot of people felt that way about him.I cannot being a military Mom myself imagine the loss you feel but I can understand what great pride you must have in the son you raised. The world was made a much better place by having him in it and now I am sure he is serving with just as much of himself in heaven.God bless him and keep him and God bless your family and all those troops that still fight the good fight for us to remain as Chris would have wanted it.Debby

Looking at the videos, reading Chris's words, I could not help but shed a tear, for a soldier so brave and pure. I cannot even imagine the grief and loss your family has endured this past 14 months. Your son was a fine young man, there is absolutely no doubt that he loved his family, his country, and his Lord.  Even through the heartache your heart must swell with pride, for Chris was a great soldier on earth and now in heaven. May that give you some comfort when dealing with your pain. I admire and respect your son for what he stood for. May God bless you and your
family.

Dear Garland and Family,
God must have needed another warrior in heaven the day that he chose Chris to join him in the almighty Army in Heaven. Nothing will ever suffice for this sacrifice that so many including you precious son gave so willingly. I wish I could have known him, but even though I did not...I am so proud of him for what he did and proud of you and your family for staying so very strong. All who gave their lives for those they do not know, for America, for Freedom are one of a kind and will always be remembered through those who loved them and those who love their country. Thank God for this wonderful man. Remember that if you ever need anything, we are here for you and your family.

Thank you for the request. I am more than honored. Chris is an American Hero, his site is hard to look at though. I have a lump in my throat and my heart goes out to his family.I have 3 sons and all of them were in the Air Force before the Irag days. They are all out now, Chris was the same age as one of my sons. Although I pray for our troops I shamefully admit I did not pray daily for them. Hopefully everyone who sees Chris's site will be moved to pray earnestly and daily for our soldiers. I am so sorry for your loss and I am so glad you hold fast to the future of seeing Chris again in Heaven. That is a truth I wish every parent who has lost a son or daughter would come to know and take comfort in. We are a great country...THE GREATEST COUNTRY...because of the brave men and women like Chris, and I hope someday to get to thank him personally. God Bless.

I am so very sorry for the loss of your son. My husband is currently recieving his training at Gulfport, MS. He is due to ship out sometime in Febuary. We have two children together. They are 7 and 11. My heart goes out to you and everyone who has lost a loved one over there. I know it is very hurtful to watch my children in such pain because they are loosing their father for awhile.I am not sure how to comfort them and Lord knows I wish I could take away their pain. There are so many families that have had to say good bye and wonder if they would ever see their loved one again. Just like your son, MY husband feels it is his duty to defend our country. I will continue to keep you and your family and all families who have loved ones there in my prayers. Marisa Strong

I just want to thank Cpl Chris Mason for fighting for my freedom. It's such a tragedy that a life so young was wasted by the enemy. I too lost a child. My only child. And even though it was in a much different way as she was killed in an automobile accident, it doesn't lessen the pain of losing your child. I'll keep your family in my prayers.

I am the mother of LCpl Seth Garrett Jones, USMC ~ (1981-2000). My son was killed in a training mission 7 years ago and our family knows your pain well.  This website is an outstanding tribute to your son.  Your story brought tears to my eyes and I just want you to know that in the last 7 years I have met folks who understand honor and those who are ignorant beyond measure.  Those with honor stand by the memory of your son.  Those who are ignorant are just that.  However, both our boys died so that even the ignorant could have freedom.  I have no doubt your son was met at the gates of heaven by a young Marine who welcomed him home with a warm embrace and encouraged him to carry on, heaven is all secure.  They both stand at their new post, sharing stories and working together to make sure the streets of heaven are safe.  They stand beside us and wrap their angel arms around us as we grieve, and when we smile as we remember their very essence in our lives.  Please take care and know your son will not be forgotten.  Always,  Michele Fentriss, proud mom of LCpl Seth Garrett Jones, United States Marine (1981-2000)

It angers me of the disrespect that you as a mother received from your workplace. Not only a mother but one of a soldier who we all should be thankful of. That quote its no different than losing a home to a fire, that home can be replaced. My grandfather(army) served and so did my father(navy)who has both passed away. I learned from them that once a soldier always a soldier. My family and I greatly support the soldiers. We salute you and pray for the safety of OUR Sons and Daughters.    God Bless- Lorie and Pat -Stapleton, AL

Words cannot express the sadness in my heart.  I realize it has been over a year since your son passed away, but you see, I am a Marine momma.  My son is just about to complete his third and final tour of defending our country.  In our family, we pride ourselves on the fact that we will never forget those that gave their all.  My son lost over 26 friends in Iraq.  It hasn't been easy, but each time God blesses us with his presence, we are sure always to remember those that we less fortunate than us.  May God bless you and your family, always and forever.

I would like to say I'm sorry for your loss. I would also like to say Thank You for the sacrifice your son has made. I am the mother of four, one girl and three small boys. When we say our prayers at night they always ask for the safety of each soldier, and say a thank you for those who have given everything for our freedom and the freedom of others. Your son has been an inspiration to my children and myself. I wish I would have known him. God bless you. We are all proud of Chris and grateful to him beyond measure. My love and prayers to your family.

I just want to say how much I thank Cpl Chris Mason for his courage & sacrific for me, my kids, & this country! Without men & women like him this country would be lost! My daughter's father was also in the Army & I was ALWAYS scared we were going to lose him! Part of me wants to say that fortunately he was honorably discharged, but maybe that makes me sound selfish. I don't mean for it to by no means! I'm sure all spouses & family members feel that way sometimes! My ex still wishes that he hadn't been discharged because he, like Chris, wanted to fight for his country! Cpl Chris Mason's family will ALWAYS be in my prayers, along with all our other soldiers out there!!!!!!! Again THANK YOU Cpl Chris Mason!!!!!!!!!

As I sat looking at the videos of your son's life and death I was moved to tears, followed by great racking sobs, I am outraged by the callousness of the RiteAid corp. I live in a small town who has just gotten a RiteAid in the last six months.Needless to say I will not spend one more red cent of mine in that store. My heart goes out to your family, who have suffered so much, just to have another heartless corporation slap you in the face. If you derive even a small measure of comfort from this remember the Bible says that we reap what we sow. I wonder if the "big wigs" @ RiteAid have ever read our Lord's words? I never had the honor to meet your wonderful son, and my heart aches for your terrible loss. I do however feel priveleged to know that I can lay down in sleep in peace knowing that our fine sons and daughters fight for my freedom eveyday. My freedom is free to me, but it has cost some everything, I promise I will never forget that, or the wonderful HERO that your son was. May God comfort and keep you.

i too have had many a family member die for this country since the revolutionary war.  i hurts my heart that some can be so callous and unfeeling when someone sacrifices their life so corporations can practice the freedom of being insensitive jerks. the part that brought tears to my eyes on his site was the quote "America he loved u so much he gave his life for u." nothing in my entire lifetime will EVER be able to express the pride and love i feel for our fighting warriors.  me, my children, and their children until infinity will eternally be grateful. another to add to my heart. my heart is getting really heavy.

Dear Mr. & Mrs. Mason,

I am sorry for the loss of your son Chris and don't know what to say except that I believe in my heart that he is a true American Hero for standing up for our country in the war on terrorism. I received an email from the Patriot Guard Riders as I am a member and I posted your email about the company you worked for on my blog. I also posted a link on my forum http://z6.invisionfree.com/almtnman/index.php?showtopic=3461&view=findpost&p=8683677
directing anyone to the blog I have and the pictures that were in that email. I hope you don't mind me doing that, but I thought it was all I could do for Chris and his family.

As a PGR member, I was honored to ride in procession at Chris's funeral. I was given the privilege of presenting a flag & military medal shadow box to Chris's parents at his gravesite and was fortunate enough to be invited to Chris's "Birthday Celebration" at his gravesite along with many of my PGR brothers and sisters.
I did not know Christopher Mason when he stood on this earth, but I am proud to call him friend and I proudly wear a patch honoring him on my motorcycle helmet.
Some Sunday mornings while out riding my bike, I find myself riding up to his gravesite, say hello, think about it all for a minute and a peace comes to me. As I leave Chris, I am much calmer then when I came. He is special in that way and I am certain that he was the same in real life.
God bless you brother! God bless you both Mr. & Mrs. Mason. For me Chris will live on beside me for the rest of my days.

WOW...what an awesome memorial for your son, who oh so deserves it!  Like many others have said, I didn't know your son, but I am glad I had a chance to learn about him through this myspace profile.  It gave me the chills to not only see how he was fighting for our country, but his great love for GOD!!  I look up to him for his courage to fight for our country, but also, because I would love to be able to be so much stronger with my walk with God, just like your son. Look how it has been a little over a year since your son went to be with the Lord and he is still touching lives, the lives of us who didn't have the privelage of knowing him personally.  God bless you and your family and may he continue to give you strength.

To the Mason family...
No words can express the meaning of your loss. No words can express the sacrifice your son gave to our country. No words can explain the responsibility of duty and honor your son displayed.
I will never forget the sacrifice your son has given to me and our country. When I first dawned the uniform, each family member of our POW/MIAs became my family, each Gold Star Mother became my mother. Each of you are now a member of my family.
Forever etched in my mind are the images of families just like yours that have given their sons and daughters for the freedom of people they will never know. The gift your son has given me will not be in vain, but ensures that America continues to be the "shining city on the hill" for the entire world to emulate.
Through my work with the VFW and POW/MIAs, I promise that your sons memory will not be tarnished, but will be used as a great example of why American continues to be the "great democracy" of the world and the example the world wants to duplicate.
God bless Chris and your family. I am proud to call him "brother", and I am proud to call you family.

Dear Mason Family & Friends!  I did not have the pleasure to know your Chris, but it's obvious that he was an awesome person.  I am merely writing you this Tribute as the mother of a soldier who has served one tour of duty in Iraq, and who will most likely return sooner than I would like.  A tiny piece of my heart breaks off every time that I hear that one of our soldiers has been taken.  I wrote a poem about a year ago while my son was in Iraq that I would like to share with you.  I wrote it, just to remind myself that "angels were riding on his soldier".  Now, your Chris is one of those Angels.  My heartfelt condolences to you and your family.  You're so right!!!  Chris will NEVER be forgotten!

ANGELS ON HIS SHOULDER

How gracefully they fly, and silently they flit,
Watching and searching for just the right place to sit.

To be there for someone who might need a helping hand,
Could it be someone who is far away, fighting in another land?

They found him, I knew they would and are carefully watching his back,
He's my Son, he's my Hero, who's currently serving in Iraq.

They've been keeping him safe for months and out of harms way,
I wish I could thank them personally, but they'd all just fly away!

So, each night as I say my prayers I ask that they continue to sit,
On the shoulders of this Brave Soldier for just a little bit!

All My Love,

Memories
Those we love remain with us...
in a whisper of the wind
In a soft rain that falls from the heaven.
In each sunrise
In every single star that lights the night sky and
in every single memory we hold within our hearts...
By Mary Chandler Huff

I dont know Chris but i feel i owe my life and freedom to him and i want the family to know that you will forever be in my prays that you find peace and know that Chris was fighting for what he believed in. and know that he is at home in peace with the lord. My brother just went over to Iraq last year and believes that he is fighting for a purpose and freedom the same as most men and women that are over there..

well i leave you with this poem to remind you that your son is your Guardian Angel and is always there....

I cannot see him,
but i know he is there,
he's your Gardian Angel,
his life with me you share.
Untill this time is over,
and god want to bring you home,
he will be there to protect you,
when things sometimes go wrong........

I pray that you and your family have PEACE, knowing that Chris' sacrifice was NOT in vain.  My husband, Lt. Michael Gonzales is serving his second tour in Fallujah right now, and tells me that it is a 'completely different place' than it was two years ago.  People are rebuilding their homes and businesses, and walking around without fear in the streets.  More than this, my husband emphasizes that the CHILDREN he meets now in Iraq have never known the tyranny of Saddam Hussein and others like him.  THESE CHILDREN may be able to comprehend and EMBRACE freeom & democracy, may be able to really reshape their whole country.  Thank you so much for HONORING your son's gift to those children, and for publicly sharing your grief.  While I know it must be overwhelming, your feelings do so much to help others HEAL, and I hope that this shared view will help you to heal, as well.  May God bless you, now and always.

My Prayer is that you will find comfort in knowing CHRIS IS A HERO TO US ALL! My Brother is a Marine, he has been to Iraq and is going back. He LOVES HIS BROTHERS AND SISTERS IN THE MILITARY as he loves the rest of his family. Though we miss him terribly when he is gone we know he is living the life he sincerely takes pride in! I AM CERTAIN THAT CHRIS was also a proud wonderful man, yet another who gave his life for ours! My family will add you and yours to our prayers this holiday season and beyond! MAY GOD BLESS YOU AND COMFORT YOU!

As I sat here this evening, I tried so hard to find the words to say "Thank You to a fellow Brother In Arms", that has not been said already, and to let you know that it's soldiers like you that got me to join the Army, and I'm not very good with finding the "just right" emotional things to say , so I will just say that you will forever be missed by me and all of your brothers and sisters, and I will let this beautiful video I found say what it is that me and all of us , including your Family feel about you at this time of the Christmas Season. I know that you are now Permanently Deployed in Heaven , at the right hand of the Father, with all of your fellow brothers and sisters, and you now stand watch over all of us.Well, here is the video , and I hope it brings you a little closer to all of us and your family, Respectfully yours, PFC. This morning when God opened a window to Heaven, He saw me, and He asked: "My child, what is your greatest wish for today?" I responded: "Please, take care of the person who is reading this message, their family and their special friends. They deserve it and I love them very much" The love of God is like the ocean, you can see its beginning, but not its end. This message works on the day you receive it. Let us see if it is true. To the Family and Friend of Corporal Chris Mason:

My sincere condolences for the loss of your son and friend. From what I have learned from his life, he was a fine man. The loss of life of a man such as he is a tragedy. My only thought: At least he is with our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

I had the priveledge of knowing many much like him during my term of service in the USN. But no one is exactly alike or the same. My service was many years before Cpl Mason's time...

But my salute goes to you Cpl. Mason. Job WELL DONE. May the Lord always be with you family and friends. You are sadly missed by your 'brothers in arms', Your family and friends. You were a Hero, my hat to yo Sir, and my heart to your family.

Sincerely,

No words will ever be able to fill the empty space that has been left in your heart. But know that your son died protecting the freedom that our country has based its very existence on. As tragic as his death was it is not in vain. I am so very proud to be affiliated with a man, no a hero, like your son!!

Dearest Mason Family,

Words will never express the gratitude I have for people like Chris nor for the sorrow I feel for your loss.  One of the best measures of success to me is the fruit one bares.  Chris is an inspiration.  His life remains a witness to all who knew him, and those like myself who have only met him on this website.  I can only hope that my son grows into the man Chris did.

On this anniversary, I pray for your peace.  Chris is rejoicing with our Lord.  Thanks for the page.  I will keep you in my prayers.

Today was the first time I have thought of the fallen soldier. Being a new addition to the Army through my fiance is opening me eyes to many new experiences. Some more frightful than others. Thinking of the fallen like Cpl Chris Mason I wrote a prayer/poem.

----------------------------------------------------------

May he forever rest in peace
and be forever at gods right hand
for that is where soldiers sit
for they died protecting their land.

Always to be remembered
and never far from home
he makes sure your still safe
and keeping things still going strong.

So pray for fallen soldiers
they hear you as you do
and make sure to tell them thank you
for they fought for others too.

May you rest in peace
Fallen soldier.

-------------------------------------------------------------

My heart goes out to the family of Cpl Mason and to all the other families with fallen soldiers. Yes we say that they have now joined God's Army, but I believe in my heart that God would have a special place just for them. A place of honor and happiness. For that is what they deserve.

Thank you so much and I am truly very sorry for your loss.

Today of all days, I'm sure your hearts are pulled in many directions.  Sorrow, pride, loss, love... but above all this we must always remember that while our troubles of man here on earth are seldom understood, they are all His will and purpose.  Heavens gates are just a little bit stronger with a soldier like Chris watching over them.  God Bless you and your family.

My family thanks your family for the sacrifices you have made.  Your son is one of a group of rare people who sacrifice wholeheartedly, for God and country.  I think it's wonderful that he was so devoted to the Lord, and to give encouragement to all those who needed it.

He is definitely up there amongst God's Angels, a leader, a warrior, and a hero.  I feel safer knowing that not only are there heroes down here fighting for our freedom, but that there are heroes like him watching over our spiritual freedom.

May God Bless your family always!

For the precious family of Cpl Chris Mason,
My loving prayers go out to you as another 'milestone' is passed. May Creator wrap you in His loving arms, surrounding you with His awesome love.
We know the pain of losing a child. Our son, Ross, was killed in an auto accident on 2 Sept, '06. Ross left behind our only grandson, Hunter, who just turned 2. All of the 'firsts' we've faced together, joined with a deep faith and love of God, family and Country. The sheer pain of holding your child, clenched tightly in death's embrace, is nothing compared to the joy of knowing we WILL see him again.
May all of our Heroes rest with the Angels.
Until we meet on the other side I remain,

Chris,
I have never met you, yet I know you are one of my heros. You selflessly served this country with pride and integrity. You paid the ultimate price for my freedom and I am forever grateful to you. I believe that there is no greater love that a man would lay down his life not only for his friends, but his country. Please watch over all of our men and women who continue to fight this war. You are a angel in fatigues, hero with military wings. You are a true American hero. Thank you for your service. You will not be forgotten.

Some soldiers enlist, hoping to figure out what they were meant to be..  Some soldiers enlist because that is what they were born to be.  Freedom is never free.
It is obvious to me, Chris was a soldier before he ever chose to be. It is obvious to me because I was born free.  If there was ever a trustworthy messenger who could carry our message to the throne of GOD himself, that is where I would expect to find Chris, adorned with the final judgement: "Well done good a faithful servant"
God Bless Chris Mason. God Bless a loving family. God bless all who cross the path of these footsteps and stop to take notice, where one man stood for many and fell to a place in the heart of ALL soldiers. A place GOD understands quite well. For there is no greater love than he who would lay down his life for his brother.

As the day draws nearer to the death of Cpl Chris Mason, I was moved to come back to his page to visit and to pay my respects once again.

I find myself coming to visit more and more often than I ever thought I would.

I guess it could be because my own son has taken such a vehement stand for the Armed Services, and has decided, at the age of fourteen that he will be joining this league of extraordinary gentlemen.

Although I've always believed in my country and the men and women who have and do proudly serve it, my patriotism has taken on a whole new meaning because of people like Chris and those young men like my son.

Stand Proud, Mr. & Mrs. Mason....

For your son was most definitely worthy....

Not only in his Country's eyes...

But in the eyes of God.

Much Love, Peace & Happiness,

Tammie

MY BROTHERS now know why men who have been to war yearn to reunite. Not to tell stories or look at old pictures. Not to laugh or weep. Comrades gather because they long to be with the men who once acted at their best; men who suffered and sacrificed, who suffered and were stripped of their humanity. I did not pick these men. They were delivered by fate and the military. But I know them in a way I know no other men. I have never given anyone such trust. They were willing to guard something more precious than my life. They would have carried my reputation, the memory of me. It was part of the bargain we all made, the reason we were so willing to die for one another. As long as I have memory, I will think of them all, every day. I am sure that when I leave this world, my last though will be of my family and my comrades. Such good men

As a former fellow employee on a public job with Mrs. Susie Mason, I think of her and her family often, and each of you remain in my prayers.  Words typed here cannot convey the groan I feel in my spirit when I think of the loss of a child, and my heart continues to break for you. We MUST walk in the Spirit and I am certain we will see Chris again.  Mr. Garland is doing a terrific job with this site, giving us who did not know Chris well a glimpse into this wonderful young man's life.  He was truly an inspiration.  To the memory of Chris I will say, "Thank you, sir, you have my utmost respect.  America continues to be free."  God Bless the U.S.A., God Bless our Military, and may God especially Bless the families of our fallen soldiers.

I met Chris when he moved into my neighborhood over 15 years ago, his first year at BaKer high school. He was riding his bike while I was walking and he stopped to introduce hisself, he said his name was Chris, "but you can call me ED." I knew him as Ed for that summer,he could make anyone laugh. He was such a special person and loved to make people smile. He had a geniune characteristic about him that is hard to find so when I heard he was serving our country it made perfect sense, who else would or could do a better job!You will always be in my heart. My heart and prayers go out to his family. Always ~A. Lester

Thank-You Chris and Jake for fighting for the freedom of our Country. Although I never met Chris I can understand your pain as I feel it daily with the loss of my Husband Jake. Thank-You for honoring the soldiers that have served and gave their lives for this country. Than-You for being there for me and offering such kind words when I so desperately need them. Your courage and strength keep me afloat when I sometimes feel I can no longer get myself out of bed. ED...

I am missing one of my best friends....
I have signed your guestbook several times. For some reason, I am always lost for words. It has almost been a year since you have been gone. A day doesnt go by that I dont think about you. I know I am still having a hard time dealing w/ you being gone. We were only close friends, I cannot even imagine what its like for your mother and father. My heart goes out to them and I keep them in my prayers...I cherish and I am thankful that I was a part of your life and your families life, there were so many things I wish i could have said while you were here. The one of the last things that you said to me over the phone was you just wanted me to be happy. Thats one of the things that keeps me going everyday. Every time you would leave my house or office you would always say "I will see you later" w/ a huge smile on your face and i have the comfort in knowing that I will see you later, in Heaven. You have changed my life forever... I look at your myspace page and I have read through some of the messages in your guestbook. It is amazing how you have touched so many lives... people that you didnt even hardly know or knew at all are moved by your courage and strength. You are someone that I admire. Ed, you are a true example of a man and a man of God...You stood for something, like a solid Rock... To me, you saw things and people through the Lords eyes. You always saw the best in me no matter what I have done. My mother says you remind her of David, in the Bible, a man after our Fathers heart. Thank you for being here to make my world a better place for me and my family! I miss you and love you... You are my hero...

It would have been wonderful to know your son but we wanted you to know we are also very proud of him and grateful for his sacrifice. We come from a Military family and as Annie's brother continues the tradition and trains as an Army Officer we pray he can take a little of Chris' spirit and attitude with him. As a Mom I pray my son is just as honorable and noble.

I personally never met Chris but I have worked with his brother Garland in the Volunteer Fire Department here in Mobile. From what I have read Chris was just like his brother, always willing to help and always had a caring attitude.
I know this is Chris's myspace, but there is another Hero that has not been given the honor as Chris, this is of no fault of Chris's family, I just wanted to mention him here if I could. This other hero is Sgt. Foster L. Harrington, 3rd Force Recon 4th marine Division, KIA-9/20/04. I was just hoping I could give him some Honor here since there hasn't been anything else set up for him. Our fire Dept miss's him greatly.
We have two respected individuals that have given their lives so we may continue to live free and both are missed dearly.
I am really encouraged to see a family such as the Mason's who have honored there son's service and did not set up a protest just to be seen on T.V.
The Mason family I salute you.

Mr. Mason - to you and your family - my deepest gratitude for the ultimate sacrifice. I never knew Chris but with all the information, videos and pictures posted on his MySpace page and here at Image Event I feel that I have come to know him on a much deeper level than I could ever have in life. What an extraordinary man and what an extraordinary family. I cannot imagine the pain you, Chris' dear mother and brother had to endure at such a profound loss. But I know beyond the shadow of a doubt that he is most assuredly a warrior in God's army. I know his flame will burn bright into eternity and I know he sits at the right hand of his Savior. What a blessed feeling to have. And what comfort you must derive from knowing this. You and your wife are to be commended for raising such a devoted Christian and Patriotic son of the United States. My prayers and blessing to Garland III as he performs his duties in Iraq. May the good Lord bring him home safe and sound to his families loving arms. To Mr. Mason's parents:  You so obviously raised a fine, fine man.  I watch all the videos in awe.  The courage with which he spoke, and the certainty he portrayed are rooted in his faith.  I am so sorry for your loss.  No words I can so will ever ease your pain, I know.  But, my prayers are with you that you may find comfort some way.  I can only hope and prayer that I raise as fine a young man as you did.

Chris M.

Wow.

That is the one word that describes how I feel right now most.

I guess I just should dive in...I haven't written in quite some time, as I am reminded by quite a few of you...It's just so sad the circumstances in which I have been compelled to log onto this site and write...

My friend has recently been killed. So many things fly thru my head all the time. It's kind of hard to find the time to sit and cry, honestly. I am consumed by so many moments. So many memories. His voice is one I'm surely never to forget. A life ended far too soon, in the eyes of most. To One, I guess he lived the life he was supposed to, however.

It just blows my mind. I thought about him just this week to the point, I said to myself, I need to e-mail him and check to see how he's doing. I am ashamed I haven't kept in touch with him the way I should have. The way a friend should. No, I'm not beating myself up over it or anything, don't worry. We both fell short on this part...I guess it could have been in the plan for me to suddenly be gone, just as well as him...Then, I'm sure he would be the one saying to someone, man, we were close at such and such time, I should have kept in contact more...Just pointing out, this, if for no other reason is like a sign with big, flashing lights that reads, "You only have so much time here--Make the most of it".

I feel fortunate enough to have been blessed to have been a part of his life and he a part of mine. It was just for a season, not so long ago, though...He helped me thru a tough time in my life, and yes, I did have a brief crush on him. I realized quickly, he wasn't for me. He was a better fit as a friend...

He was one that was the first to call a spade a spade. There was no gray area he would concern himself with. Black or white is all he saw. Such a good man. I can honestly say, I think he did the best he could with the life he was given, which, was filled with the love of those he surrounded himself with. Now that I think about it, he did live everyday like it was the last. Almost like he realized tomorrow really ISN'T guaranteed.

He was so firey! He was filled with so much life. He had charisma. He was smarter than most. He could quote scripture like nobody I have ever met in person. He could reference almost anything in the Bible. My living room on several occasions turned into some sort of faith based counseling office. He would sit on one couch and I would lay on the other and he would quote scripture and turn to a many of stories, parables, and other scriptures that just fit the moment. God truly broke the mold after him...

I feel I have lost a wonderful friend of the heart, and for those of you who never had the pleasure of knowing him, or loving him, you really missed out. He made no excuses.

The peace I honestly have is this: He was one that loved and believed in God. I wonder what his last words were. I wonder what the last conversation he had. I wonder if he woke up that morning feeling a little differently about things, not really understanding what it was he was feeling. I wonder who the last person he thought about might have been. I know he wasn't alone. I know God was waiting to accept him into the home I know he was willing to go to whenever it was time...

Bless you, Chris...You will be remembered always. I never thought to say thank you for everything he said to me...I hope he can somehow know what I am thinking or feeling right now, and that he gets it...I'm trying my best to keep my head up and keep his attitude about all of this...Life goes on, remember he's where he needs to be, where he wants to be, where he lived his life knowing that's where he would end up anyway...He wouldn't want anyone to skip a beat over this. He was that kind of guy...The kind that wouldn't want you pouting things away...

I'll always remember his advice, attitude, and love he showed me constantly...

Thank you for raising such an awesome young man. I watched the video where he was talking at his church about living a life for the Lord and it touched my soul. He had such a good sense of humor and in some places reminded me of my boys. My son is coming home in two weeks and I am so thankful. What an honor it is to say "Thank you" to your son for giving it all. Freedom is not free. God bless you for honoring your son with the myspace of which I am honored to be listed as a friend.

My husband will always remember Mason. He was over there with Chris. He flew home with Chris for leave (Oct 06) and it was then that I heard some great stories about this wonderful person whom I will never get to meet, and I am deeply saddened over this. I never met him, but I will never forget him. It would be this past week that Chris would be coming home with the rest of the guys.  It was this past week that my husband came home. I couldn't help but think of Chris and the other soldiers that were not on those flights home. When I saw that plane land, I couldn't help but cry... I cried for Mason, I cried for Watts, I cried for Bento, I cried for Heringes, I cried for Palmer, I cried for Sigua, I cried for Knier, I cried for Arvanitis, and I cried for all the other soldiers that could not make it back. I felt so much agony, sadness, and the tears just came down. I wish things could be different and the soldiers could have all come home. I wish I could have met them. My husband misses Mason alot. I never met Chris, but I will never forget him. He will live on in my husbands heart and my mine. Our thoughts will always have Chris in them and our prayers will always have Chris' family in them. There is no justice when it comes to the loss of a soldier like Chris. My husband and I will be making a trip to visit Mason's bridge and his grave site. We want to honor him and will always remember him. Jason wants to do something to honor his memory so I told him what better way to do that then to name our first son after him - Christopher Mason it is... We only hope our son will grow up to be like Chris - a thoughtful, funny, amazingly spirited, honorable soldier.

God Bless Chris and the Mason family... our thoughts and prayers will always be with Chris and the Mason family.

Love the Russell's.

Well, I knew it would be hard but I finally made myself read through the websites in honor of Chris.  My response?  I don't have one. I'm speechless.  All I can think of is: "Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends...For it is for freedom that Christ has set us free."  Thank you Chris for paying the highest possible price.  I look forward to meeting you.

My husband and I watched your videos, read your pages, and looked at your pictures of Chris. He seems like an extraordinary young man that I know you are tremendously proud of. Even though I didn't know him, he makes me extremely proud to be an American. His positive attitude, great spirit, and religious beliefs should be what our country stands for. Each and every one of us as Americans should feel great pride that we have people like your son fighting for our freedom each and every day. My husband was in the Army in the first gulf war, and my son is in the Air Force for his 5th year. My daughter-in-law's brother is in Iraq in the Army as we speak. Also, my brother-in-law is a Sr. Master Sgt. in the Air Force. I am very proud of them all! I am so sorry for your great loss, but very sure that Chris defended our country with great pride and conviction, just as I know you are. I thank God everyday for all the brave men and women that risk their lives for our freedom and the freedom of others. Thank you for giving us a glimpse of what your son was all about. Sending prayers and love to you from WV. MyHotComments

After spending a long time reading through Chris' myspace page, watching the videos and listening to people speak about him, I am left with a hollow feeling. I am one of those that didn't personally know Chris, but I think I would have loved to know that bright, upbeat young man! I am so sorry for the loss of your son...words fail me. I'm sorry. I should be able to say something to you to make a difference, but I can't. The only thing I know for sure is that Chris left his mark here on earth and without a doubt is in heaven watching over all of us. God bless you, his family, and know that he will never be forgotten! Many thanks, Chris...I'm so proud of you!

I am a member of the Patriot Guard Riders and an ordained minister...I was asked to approve a comment on my MySpace page containing a video of Chris. I did not approve it. Instead, I placed the video on my site permanently. The caption above the video reads, "A tribute to a fallen hero. I did not know Chris Mason, I wish I did. One day, I will meet him, shake his hand, and thank him for his sacrifice." May the peace of God comfort you and the power of God sustain you.

Chris was a great man. When I came to 1-505 PIR he was one of the first people I remember meeting, and every memory of him after that has him either smiling or laughing, he always had a great attitude. I can also remember the day I heard about his death, and I just couldn't believe it. May he rest in peace and know he will never be forgotten

I came back to you to pay my respects and told you I was scared and keeping a low profile.  You sent me the picture that says, care what God thinks of you. Underneath you told me that Chris told this to one of his "brothers" five days before he was killed. I have that picture on my "About Me" section with the caption .....and my name I will love you forever .....Carol (wind song)

Mr. Mason,

My husband is a soldier and we had the pleasure of meeting Chris at a friend's wedding in May 2006.  Chris was a groomsman and spent the night charming the hearts of all the women in the room.  I kept cracking up at this soldier who kept asking all the mommas to dance.  There were plenty of young single girls and Chris danced with the moms all night long.  I thought to myself, this boy must love his mom because of how he was charming all the older ladies in the room.  It was an honor to meet him.

I am even more pleased to know we have a shared faith in Christ.  He is in the presence of the Holy One and is sure to be in awe of our Glorious King.  Blessings.

Chris, No greater sacrifice can a human give.  As a Baker alumni, I feel very unfortunate not to have known you during your time on this earth.  I sit here at Fort Hood, Tx, waiting for a plane to take me on my second trip to the desert, and my sides shack and eyes water as I read about the awesome impact you made on those who were blessed to know you.

Dear Chris, thank you so much for eveyrthing you've done for our country.  Your sacrifice and love has been tried and proven through your willingness to go.  Being in a family who has a past of military, I've learned to respect each and every man who goes, supports, and even dies for our country.  I have one cousin in Iraq and my brother just started his journey in the Navy - words could never express how much it means to know that people like YOU AND THEM value our country.  This is to the parents of Chris Mason - your values and morals to keep Chris alive in the hearts of MANY Americans astounds me.  May you continue to be blessed beyond measure.  Once again, Thank you, CHRIS, for risking your life to ensure the safety of me, my family and future kids.

It was indeed an honor to have met the family at the Airborne & Special Operations Museum yesterday, of this fine young man, who so represented our country in such a fine manor, through his devotion in serving it, honoring it & giving his life for it. Thanks for sharing his web page & I shall share it with those Patriots that I know will appreciate it as well. I shall continue to honor him & those that fought before him & continue to do so, by volunteering at a very special place, a cathedral to so many, the Airborne & Special Operations Museum, THE LEGEND LIVES ON.

Mr. and Mrs. Mason,
I served with Chris in A co. 1/505 PIR for 12 months before I was assigned to 10th Mountain. He was close to me like me own brothers. I still remember how excited he was to meet Pres. Bush. For several days he said he was going to tell him "To go ahead and send us on over, that way we can get this war done and over. I'm ready to go and I'm taking my platoon with me." He is a great man, an amazing soldier. Chris' memory will always live "All the way".  (Edited by Chris' dad on 5-27-07, completed the end line from "all" to "All the way." if that is not what you wanted please let me know. hooah)

Chris,
Each day when I awake, I am greeted with a smile in my thoughts from you.  I cherish every moment you and I had together.  When you gave me your dog tags in July of 2006 you asked me to keep them close to my heart.  Chris, I still keep them close to my heart each and every moment. I rub my fingers across them so many times a day as I see your beautiful smile in my mind. I thank the sweet Lord above each day for allowing me to make such perfect memories with you.  I feel you with me wherever I go and I never have fear, for I know that you are my guardian angel watching over me.  I love you with all of me heart and I miss you so terribly.
Sincerely,

Dear Sir,
I first wanted to tell you that Im sorry about your loss. I remember a couple days after it happened my husband called me and was really upset about what had happened. He and Mason were good friends. Mason was the only one that didnt give Tanner to much crap about me. He was happy for us. Tanner was actaully going to ask mason to be a groomsman in our big wedding but now we will be lighting a memorial candle for Mason. From what Tanner told me about him he seemed like a wonderiful man. Its a ashame that I never got to meet him. Tanner said I would have really like Mason. He said he always knew how to make him laugh when he needed. I hope you dont mind that i am sending the link to this site to my husband. I know he would like this website because he doesnt have many pictures of mason. Once again Im sorry for your loss.

This Easter Sunday has held more meaning to me than those of the past.  Why you might ask?  Because this Easter was the first of many that I will have without Ed.  Knowing that Jesus Christ died so that we may accept him into our lives for salvation and eternal life in Heaven has taken on a new and profound meaning to me.  It means that I am much more grateful now than I have ever been in the past.  Although I hurt daily and yearn to see Ed, hug him and talk to him; knowing that he accepted Christ's salvation and is now with our Lord and Savior gives me peace.  This peace still does not take away the tears and the pain; but I can say this....it makes me much more thankful to God for sending his only son to die for our sins.  I am also thankful that my friend (Ed) was raised by such wonderful, Christian parents who raised him in a loving, Christian home and instilled Christian morals and values in him.

I thank the Lord for my salvation and long to see Jesus' face.  I remember the many times Ed called me and was singing the song "I Can Only Imagine."  That was one of his favorite songs.

We owe a debt to the United States military for their courageous service.  The greatest thing a person can give is his life.  There have been millions of soldiers like Ed who have laid down their lives for the freedom and safety of our country.  Just as soldiers have given their lives for America, Christ laid down his life for the world.

Every day soldiers put their lives in danger for our freedom.  Yet, more dangerous than losing a life is losing a soul.  I am thankful that Ed's soul was not lost.

I know Ed is now an Angel in Heaven and long for the day that I see him standing at the gates along side Jesus to welcome me in!

I am absolutely in awe of your son and would like to thank you for raising such a fine young man.  He is a true inspiration to us all, and I know you are very proud of him.  I "happened" upon his info while doing a google search for Romans 8:38-39 "For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor present things, nor future things, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord."  There is no such thing as coincidence.  God is so good, and I know that one day I will get to meet your son in Heaven.  Thank you again for sharing his story.

Mr Mason,

Thank you for raising such a fantastic young man.  Chris understood what he was fightig for.  I especially found his quote, "Where Freedom goes the Gospel is soon to follow".  That is why the Islamic Terrorists are fighting so hard to keep Iraq in chaos to prevent Freedom from growing in Iraq.

I also enjoyed watching Chris compete in his bull fighting competitions.

"The Glory in life shall go to those who enter the arena.  If they fail at least they fail while daring to be great.  Their place in life will NEVER be among those cold timid souls that know not victory or defeat."

"Glory is forever".

God Bless Corporal Chris Mason.

Thank You for sharing the videos with all of us.

Mr. and Mrs. Mason, you raised a wonderful son and you must be very proud of him for everything that he did during his life. Thank you for sharing with us this information about Chris. He obviously loved life and had a good time. It had to be a joy for everyone to be around him at the cafe, rodeo, at church and in Iraq. His testimonies about his faith as a Christian and his belief in his country were also quite moving.

Mr. Mason I saw a thread on the above website about the video posted on YouTube. A belated expression of sympathy for your loss; America needs more brave individuals who will give selflessly of themselves even when life hands them lemons. The fact that you raised such a fine young man is an inspiration to patriots and parents everywhere!

RIP {{{{ CHRIS }}}}

To {{{{ THE FAMILY }}}}:

Thank You for sharing the story of Chris, his life, his faith, his courage, his love of country, his ( and your ) ultimate sacrifice in the service of the country he volunteered to serve, and protect.

Please know that most Americans support the troops in their mission, and KNOW the good they are doing in securing the opportunity for the Iraqis to build a better life, and Nation, than the one they suffered with over the last few decades.

I have taken the opportunity to share a link to your page with my readers, in the hope that even more people will know the story of Chris.

We thank your son for his service and the defense of the free world. We mourn with you at your loss. We have a son who is based at FOB Summerall but I doubt they ever met as my son has come in within the past few weeks. But I know my son will carry on the mission in the spirit of Chris and those who have been before him. It is important we finish the mission. Millions of people depend on the free world because it provides them hope. Our soldiers care deeply about freedom and take our freedom personally. We must thank them every chance we get. God Bless.

Thank you so much for sharing your son with us, and for your pride in his ultimate gift to us. What a testimony both your sons are to you as parents.

From watching the videos I see what a remarkable warrior Chris was, on all battlefields, those seen and those unseen. I wept.

I cannot imagine your pain or your loss, but I bless your honoring of him, of our country, and of our Great Commission.

Abundant blessings. And peace.

I am so sorry to hear that he had died...But at least he is in a good place now and by getting there, He died doing something he loved doing and for also what he stood up for and that would be Standing up for his country...let him rest in peace and let god watch over his friends and loved ones that are still over in Iraq. But most of all his family...

Chris,
May you rest in peace and may God give the American people the strength to fight the "evil" you have seen. No words can ever fill the emptiness your family is experiencing but they know you were doing what you truly believed in. Chris, though we never met, I would be proud to call you a son, America's son. You could, when others couldn't, you did, when others didn't. Rest in peace.

Your Son and every man who has fought and died for his country deserve a special hallowed place in every American's heart. It is their ultimate sacrifice in which our freedom are firmly anchored.

God bless your Son, and God bless our soldiers.

Mr. Mason, thank you for sharing your son, Chris, with those of us who will see this tribute.  By every measure he is a true hero.  God bless him and your family that raised such a fine man who was beautiful inside and out.  As an American on whose behalf he sacrificed his life, I am eternally grateful.

God bless your son. He died a true American hero and speaking as someone living in Scotland can I just say how grateful the vast majority of decent minded people here in the UK are to have your great nation as our ally in the war on terror.
My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
God bless you.

There is honour and there is courage and there is man. Sometimes the three come together in something we call a warrior hero. Such was your son and he has earned his place in history.

My heart goes out to you - whatever the cause, there is no pain like the pain of losing a child. God bless and keep you.

Mr. Mason;
Words cannot express my sorrow at your loss of your son.  I am a former medic and I appreciate your sons service very much.  I know that no words from me can help lessen your loss but I will be praying and so will my family for you and your family.  May God richly bless you sir.

I am so sorry to hear about the death of your son.  I thank you for his service to this great nation.  I will keep your family in my prayers and hope that as each day passes your memories of your beloved son fill the tremendous void you feel in your heart.  Much love, Marty

Watching your video tribute to your son overwhelms me.  He fills the mind and heart with such rejoicing that he lived.  What a miracle for parents, bearing and raising such a child into such a man.  What a shining light he gave to all others that his words reached and to all those he shall reach.  That shining light is for the Children of Light, for each soul beloved by God.
Loving him for all that his life meant to the world,  that is only a tiny emotion compared to the loss felt by so many in his absence.
Many may realize that the cross represents love, never death.  And when we love others with all our hearts, we carry a cross for each one.  And we climb upon that cross to pay the price of such great love when it is lost.
In that anguish, for the sake of Love, comes more salvation for our souls.  We bow our heads before God,  for our Saviour, and for Eternal Love.

It is tragic that our brave boys must go abroad to do what is necessary for the defense of our country and yet, a significant portion of it's citizens can't even make the connection between 9-11 and radical islam.  I mourn your loss,I respect your sacrifice and I applaud your patriotism.

Chris is busy with God's work now and, judging from what I have seen in the videos, he must be doing an outstanding job!  Bless you for allowing me to know this wonderful Christian Hero.

Well one thing is for certain. Chris did not know the meaning of fear. You can just see in the videos and the pictures the pride he had in working with his fellow Soldiers. What a fine young man he was. I consider it an honor to have known him, if only by means of a few pictures.

Although I never knew Chris I have had the distinct honor of being with several of our Brothers in Arms as our Lord took them home. I know in my heart that Chris is with his Heavenly Father (probably trying to pull a prank). I hope and pray that he and his Father look down on all of us with hope and pride, as we did for Chris and our other Brothers.

Rest in Peace Chris

As I look at these pictures today for the first time, the overwhelming feelings are the same as they were 3 months ago. That is how touching Ed was to many people in his lifetime including myself. I pray for Ed's family still, but know that they are survivors just as Ed in Christ. In my opinion Ed was too good of a person to be here with us he deserved more, he deserved to be in Heaven with our Father. He had surpassed human existance and understood his place here on Earth and this website, the pictures and the things people say about Ed go to show that. He made a mark, a stamp in this lifetime for himself, his family and most importantly GOD! Way to go brother! Love you and think of you often, Stephanie

Mr. Mason,
I just finished watching the news with your interview with NBC 15 on January 10, 2007. I was very touched and very moved by your comments. While I never knew Chris, I know many like him. "If we cannot support the cause, we cannot support our troops..." I could not agree more...You said it very well when you stated that we are not only helping those in Iraq, but we are helping with the survival of the United States of America. You, your son, and your family are excellent Christian roll models for our country and for other countries who keep a close watch on us. When I heard you speak tonight, I saw hope. Because of service men and women like your son and like you I can believe in a safe future for my little boy....thank you for that....Keri Green(missintx7@email.uophx.edu)

Hello Chris:

I love You! Thoughts of you always bring a smile to my face and comfort to my heart. You are my Hero and my Angel! You always picked me up when I was down. You brought sunshine to my darkness. Chris you have given me those sweet memories that we always talked about and most of all you have taught me to be the best person I can be. I thank God for bringing you into my life. I learned to be brave, strong and most of all full of faith. You were the perfect role model. Chris you have left the most wonderful gifts here on Earth for all that knew you and even those who did not know you. You always showed love and faith. Thank you for the strength that your wonderful love for the Lord gave to me. Words can not express the feelings that I have when I think of you. You are a true knight and shining armor. I will always think of you when I look into my little Mason's eyes. I know that you are looking down on us from Heaven with that great big smile and a heart full of Joy! Yeah! Chris! You are a real Hero and now you are a soldier right there with God! I love You!

My Deepest and most heartfelt sympathy goes out to the family of Spc. Christopher E. Mason.
The price this Brave Soldier and his family have paid for this country and for freedom, Will Never Be Forgotten.
There is so much thanks to be given, to these young heroes, for their Courage, Dedication and Service.

May Christopher rest safely in God's Care and may God's Loving Peace and Comfort be with the Mason family.
I am the sister of such a young hero, who made the Ultimate Sacrifice in Vietnam, many years ago.

May the Peace of God and the memories of Christopher, remain in your heart always and give you comfort and strength through the difficult days ahead.

I have been told many times that only two people have died for our freedom, one being Jesus Christ and the other the American soldier. Chris had the strongest and truest belief in both. I spent several years with Chris at the "Rafter B bar" when he fought bulls. He left an amazing footprint in my heart and helped me grow by leaps and bounds in my walk of faith. I have many fond memories of Chris and know he will always have a place in my heart. As he once told me we share the same father I just happen to be his southern brother from another mother. I know he is setting next to our father and looking down on us all and pray that he is able to see all the smiles and love he left with us and look forward to the day when I can walk up to my brother and give him a hug. Thank you Chris for being who you were in my life, I look forward to seeing down the road.

I spoke with Chris just a month ago about joining the Army, he gave me courage and confidence that I needed. It had been laying heavy on my heart to help my fellow brothers to defend Freedom in my country. I knew the love he had for my mom's friend, Tracy kept him going, while he was in Iraq. I made the commitment the next day. Chris will always be a HERO and INSPIRATION in my life. I will continue where my brother Chris left off, for the FREEDOM OF MY GREAT COUNTRY......My Prayers Go Out To The Family and Tracy.

Though we had never met Chris, our son Jason and him were good friends and "Brothers in Arms." I understand the day they deployed, Chris was the last trooper to hold my granddaughter. The evening before we heard that the Lord had taken him, my daughter inlaw was showing us a picture of him and telling us what a great guy he is. Our family here, Jason's grandmother in Boise and our whole church family are praying for yours. Christopher Edward Mason left his mark on the lives of everyone who knew him and many more who never had the privilege. He is soldier, a saint and our hero!

My thoughts and prayers go out to this family. As I watch him on T.V. during his visit home and hear him preaching about JESUS CHRIST, it gives me chills. I pray that one of my sons may find their way back to the Lord from seeing him on T.V. I lost my oldedst son 5 yrs ago so I know and share your pain. My son left me 2 granddaughters in which I feel blessed. But, that also brings me much pain as I watch them go up without their daddy.
Your son was/is a HERO fighting for our freedom. I know you must be proud of that. Remember that he is in a better place now and what a reunion we will have, very soon.

Chris Mason is one of the better friends I can say I have ever known. Several times he saved my butt by putting himself in between me and a bull. One time I was hung up but Chris was right there to get me out of my bullrope. Not only is he a hero to countless bullriders he saved but now he is an American Hero and someone whom I was sure glad to know

Chris's passion and bravery will always be remembered. I will be keeping his family in my prayers.

As I look at the pictures and videos I remember what a character Mason was. He brought so much joy into my life during the time that we knew each other. Mason's first words to me when he called from Iraq were always "Hello Trouble" then he'd laugh that wonderful laugh.  He always made me laugh even when I was not in the mood. He was a hardcore paratrooper and believed deeply in what he was fighting for. I miss and love him very much but know I will see him again oneday.  The family is always in my prayers. Thank you for raising such an outstanding man.

To Chris now in Heaven I thank you for all that you did! MY heart is heavy as I look at your pictures such a great man that had so much to offer this world and now is gone. May God Bless you as you now have a place in Heaven.  To Chris's family  thank you for bringing in to the world a Great son that gave you so much joy!  Don't ever let the war or the cost of the war take the joy that you will always have in your heart away! Remembering Chris and his smiles  and what he gave up to make this world a better place will honor him forever.  Love and Hugs to Chirs and his family   May we all remember him!

I love all of the pics you have posted.  I look at them every day.  Thank you for being so wonderful.  I love your family so much and can't wait until we are all rejoicing in heaven together.  I pray every day for you & Ms. Sue and will continue to do so for the rest of my life.  You guys are such an inspiration and Chris was who he was because you guys did a spectacular job instilling morals in him and raising him in such a Christian home.  My love to you, Ms. Sue, Garland, Mya, Leah & Ben.  God Bless you all!  Jennifer Marie
