M-Unc. (1946): Several years ago, when I first started collecting boxing cards, I remember seeing a few of these cards offered for sale.  They appear to have been issued in New York City at Stillman's Gym and also on a few newsstands and were produced by boxer Kid Herman, whose image appears on the back of the envelope in which they came.  The cards feature all heavyweight champions from Sullivan to Louis, with the Louis card dated “1946” on the front.  The post card-sized, blank-backed cards are printed on a thin chipboard similar to what was used for strip cards in the 1920’s.  The set was sold originally in a packet for $0.25.  It has been reprinted with additional cards, probably in the 1970s, although the reprints are themselves rare.
