A truck waits at the UELCI office to carry bags full of cooking vessels to distribute to tsunami survivors. "Dignity in Disaster" is an important theme for the UELCI and its partners. For the first days the survivors appreciated cooked food, within a week they wanted to cook their own food from distributed rations. Eventually, they will want the means to restore their livelihood--the ability to fish, for example. Briefing at UELCI office in Chennai, India (1/15/05). Photo by Sue Edison-Swift/ELCA
