New York (March 20-22, 2005)| Paula and I went to New York to meet my brother John and his wife Paula, who were there on vacation. We went to see Tosca at the Met. We stayed at the Plaza, just because we thought it would be something to do once - not realizing that it is going to be closed down shortly and sold for apartments. So we fitted that in just in time! |

Melissa the Viper (part 2) (March 9, 2005)| Melissa the Viper appeared again at our Ten Sails Smallworld Symposium event, which was a big success. Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper came too, gave an excellent talk, and was sporting enough to play Melissa at pool to kick off our pool challenge. Not only that, he managed to beat her! |

Opera House Hard Hat Tour (March 4, 2005)| Paula and I went on a "hard hat tour" of the new Ellie Caulkins Opera House which is being built in Denver, and which will be opening in September. It was very exciting to get an idea of what it will be like. They say it will be one of the top ten opera houses in the world, which I can believe from what I've seen of it. Which is great news for us opera aficionados in Denver!! |

NBA All Star weekend (February 17-20, 2005)| The NBA All Star game is in Denver this weekend, so the celebrities are flooding into town. There's a big charity pool tournament at the Wynkoop on Thursday evening. Will post photos here if and when I snap anyone famous! Lots of celebrity gossip floating around - one of the better local rumors is that Beyonce is staying in the loft building right next to us for the weekend. |

Paula's work party (January 29, 2005)| We went to Paula's work party, for Exempla / St Joseph's Hospital, at Invesco Field at Mile High, home of the Denver Broncos, and had a very nice evening. We got a tour of the stadium thrown in (most of which was walking along underground corridors and looking at locked doors - this is the officials' locker room door, this is the cheerleaders' locker room door, etc). But we did get to walk out on to the edge of the field which was fun. |

Chris and the wolf (January 23, 2005)| Chris brought home a stray "dog" which looks remarkably like a wolf. We took it in to a shelter and they thought it was an Alaskan Malamute-wolf hybrid. It's an incredibly calm and well behaved dog though - I'm not a dog person but I really like it. We can't really keep it in the loft though so are trying to figure out what to do with it! |

Telluride (January 1-8, 2005)| Paula and I spent a week in Telluride in Warren and Judy's beautiful time share there - many thanks to them! We got in lots of skiing, and I learnt how to ski in powder!! |
