Thanksgiving Tree Planting (November 22, 2007)| The Town of Middlefield accepted and planted a tree today, November 20, 2007 as part of this year's Thanksgiving celebration. The tree was presented by Keith Mitchell on behalf of the Tree wardens Association of CT. Accepting the 'Aristocrat' Flowering Pear and planting it for the Town were Middlefield Tree Warden John Wyskiel and Parks and Recreation Director of Maintenance Paul Valvo . A plaque was also presented with the tree by Greg Foran, President of the Tree Wardens Association in testimony to their declaration of "grateful Thanksgiving". In keeping with the theme of the day, a quotation by Lucy Larcom also appears on the plaque, "He who plants a tree, plants a hope." The tree is planted at Peckham Park in Middlefield. |
