NCA PROJECT
My son, Dirk, and I volunteered to photograph the National Cemeteries in Southern California for the book, "Sacred Ground" by Tom Ruck. Sales of the book were to benefit the scholarship fund of the Freedom Alliance Foundation.

Images from the National Cemeteries in Riverside, CA, Fort Rosecrans in San Diego, CA, and Los Angeles, CA.
Riverside National Cemetery is located in Riverside, CA, between March Air Force Base to the east and The General Old golf course to the west. I-215 crosses between the cemetery and the base. Riverside was opened on Veteran's Day, 1978, and sits on 740 acres.
Los Angeles National Cemetery is 15 miles west of downtown Los Angeles, in a high density area surrounded by the I-405 to the west with the UCLA campus and Westwood Village to the east. Located on 114 acres, opened May, 1889.
Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery was formerly an Army Post cemetery, designated a National Cemetery in 1934. Situated in beautiful surroundings with San Diego Bay on one side and the Pacific Ocean on the other. Located on 77.5 acres, and designated a California registered historical landmark in 1932.
After image No. 44, later images were added, beginning with #45, note description below each image. Images 47 through 50 were shot at the "Echo Taps" ceremony on Armed Forces Day. Images 51 through 61 were shot 5/27/07 at Fort Rosecrans, and are final submissions for the project which closed Memorial Day, 2007.
