Clan Clark Deckers
Greetings, welcome to our website.  We want to make sure you visit our other photo albums while you are in the neighboorhood.
We are breeding high percentage Decker (giant) Rat Terriers.  We breed for prey drive, temperment, and overall health/conformation.
While standard "Ratties" come in around 10-15 pounds, our stud male, Sir Duncan, is 45 pounds.  Our Females, Mairead and Orla, are both around 25 pounds.
The Decker is blessed with a huge prey drive and also a dedication to their humans.  While being relentless while hunting they love to cuddle up on the couch with you.
They were bred to hunt and love nothing more than to have a job to do.  While not near as hyper as a Jack Russell Terrier, they have plenty of energy to do whatever you train them to do.  They are more of a thinking type dog, but still terrier through and through.  We have one pup that is now riding a boogie board and taking the yellow lab he shares his house with for walks!  Yes he holds the lead in his mouth and off they go to the park.  Another pup is going through a training program at Canyon City Colorado State Prison and may become a police dog or an assistance dog for the disabled.
Deckers can be taught to do just about anything you want them to do.  Such is their desire to please their humans.  They are so smart you have to be very careful with them or else they will end up training you to be the kind of human they want you to be!  No kidding there!  They are SMART.
They have been trained to hunt mice, rats, coons, 'possums, upland game birds, waterfoul, bounce deer, break turkey flocks, squirrels, rabbits, woodchucks, even baying wild boar. This versatile dog is without equal.
If that was not enough, once in the house they love to cuddle.  You could never find a better critter to cuddle up with on a cold winters night.  Each has their own individual personality that makes them even more special.  They almost defy description.  All we know is we have fallen in love with these dogs and will never own any other breed!
Please feel free to check out Sir Duncan's, The Lady Mairead's, and Princess Orla's photo albums.  Also the planned breedings album.
Please feel free to contact us at maryjo_meyer2002@yahoo.com or call us at 616-366-5008 or 269-945-9660 if you would be interested in a puppy, or if you just want to talk dogs.  We love company, it's a plus if you like to fish!!!
We are located in Southwest Michigan in the town of Hastings.
