East of Bryce Canyon, the weather looked much better with blue skies and sunshine.  This is the view of the Grand Staircase Escalante from Tropic - We met up with Roger and Shelby who had gone down to Las Vegas.  We also met up with Fred who had come up from Arizona.  After purchasing last minute supplies, we had lunch/dinner at Clarke 's  Restaurant in Tropic.

Eric pondering the first river crossing.  A lot of our group tried to find a crossing that would keep them relatively dry, but as this was the first of many, it did no good to try to keep dry.  Fortunately, the river is not deep (unlike the Escalante).
