New Rat Terrier babies are here!
Gretchen gave birth 5-29-09 to FIVE beautiful babies, thanks to daddy Leif. This initial album contains newborn photos.

2 pearl tri tuxedo males SOLD
chocolate tri piebald female SOLD
1 black/white tri piebald female SOLD
1 red sable tuxedo male (preemie) NFS

We've never had a "runt" in a litter, but we sure do this time. The little red sable fellow is a preemie so he was supplemented round the clock as he was Very small. But what a fighter! There is an album in this folder devoted specifically to him.

His name is Calico Run's Chuck Norris.

Enjoy the photos of these little ones

#2 pearl tri tuxedo male - 1 lb.
  chocolate/white tri female - l lb. 3 ozs.

Enjoy the photos of these fresh little ones.

Calico Run's Chuck Norris
2. Calico Run's Chuck Norris  (June 10, 2009)
Although we've been breeding Rat Terriers for quite some time, this was our first experience with either a runt or - more amazingly to us - a premature puppy. Birth weight: 2.4 ozs.

I thought this little fellow was simply a runt - the first runt we'd ever had. I didn't recognize until the day after birth that he was probably a preemie and his life was fading before our eyes.

The purpose of this album to show this little guy from birth, through his struggle to survive and his progress into the land of the living!  The Lord has been gracious in bringing this fine little treasure into our lives.

July 2009, this baby has survived and is thriving although he is considerably smaller than his siblings. He is such a fighter against the odds that his name seemed appropriate! (Check out this link for some great humor: http://www.chucknorrisfacts.com/)

We invite you to enjoy Chuck's photos!

THIRD WEEK
4. THIRD WEEK  (June 19, 2009)
Growing rapidly as you can see!  This group is a quiet bunch of babies. Especially 'cuz all these photos show them pretty much asleep! They may wrestle now and then, but there is very little vocalizing.  They are so easy to have in the house with us all.

Here are the stats for this week:

    #1 pearl boy - 2 lbs. 7 ozs.
    #2 pearl boy - 2 lbs. 2 ozs.
      chocolate/white tri girl - 2 lbs. 2 oz.
      black/white tri girl - 2 lbs. 1 oz.

FOURTH WEEK
5. FOURTH WEEK  (June 26, 2009)
We have reached the end of week four, and the gang is doing absolutely superb.  For two weeks, we've been trimming toenails with a dremel tool so the babies will be used to the noise and the foot handling, making future nail trimming, etc. easy for their owners or vet to perform.

Much activity and fun being had by all.

#1 pearl boy - 2 lbs. 15 ozs.
#2 pearl boy - 2 lbs. 8 ozs.
  chocolate/white tri girl - 2 lbs. 9 oz.
  black/white tri girl - 2 lbs. 7 oz.
