Parafoil Kite (June 14, 2009)This is home made from panels cut from an old spinnaker and sewn on a single stitch light duty machine. Measures 40 inches by 34 inches and needs 8 mph winds to fly due to it's heavier weight cloth. A fun downwind ride in my 25 inch wide kayak in 10-20 mph winds. Single line control which snap hooks to a line on the deck or can be run to the bow via a looped line.
Lighter weight ones which fly in less wind are sold at kite stores or you can buy the material and make your own. |

Born To Raise Sail Gathering 2006 (October 20,21,22)The individuals with their boats and rigs.
Some pictures of the Cedar Island Challenge. NE winds 15-20 with higher gusts produced too much spray for my non-waterproof camera to chronicle the whole journey. |
