Miriam Cone was a good friend of mine and I have some pieces of her jewelry. I also took some classes with her at the Philadelphia YWCA. Could you tell me how you came to have these pieces?

This wonderful bracelet is handmade by Vicki Walker of Wire Mania. The copper plaques rivetted to the hammered sterling read "Dream" and "Love." The lampwork beads from her "perfect Storm" series are 22mm in diameter.
15 3 Aluminum Bangles Glen Yank
In the 1970's Glen Yank took his artistry and blended his vision with fluid lines and rigid motorcycle parts/hardware that inspired his Punk Rock style and he brought that to his jewelry company Zack Attack Zak Attak. Living and working from the East Village in New York City, his abstract modernist jewelry became a new fad for bikers, musicians, and artists.

17 Sterling brooch using Picasso Jaspar Roger Binns Contemporary
Wonderful sterling pin inset with Picasso jaspar. The natural elements of the stone appear to resemble tree trunks and Roger continued the design into a freeform piece of sterling.
Picasso jasper (also called Picasso marble or simply Picasso stone) is metamorphic limestone, Metamorphosis is one of the three ways stones are formed (the other kinds of stones are igneous and sedimentary). Geologically, a metamorphic stone forms deep in the earth, its essential nature altered by heat and pressure. It may go through metamorphosis more than once, and each time new elements are added to its composition. Only those aspects of the stone which are impermeable to pressure and heat are preserved.
18 Slide bracelet with enameled pansies 1980s

Polished stones and mother-of-pearl plaques set in sterling. I picked all of these out when I visited Roger's home, then he arranged and set them. Fabulous! I am going to get all of the names....

51 Pounamu (Kokopu) trout jade Contemporary
Maori design called Manaia. The carrier of supernatural powers. Traditionally depicted with the head of a bird, the body of a man and the tail of a fish - representing sky, earth and sea and the balance between. Protects the wearer from evil.
Kokopu is the Maori name for the trout fish and refers to the speckling of the stone. This type of jade varies in color from yellow to pale greens with dark brown or black spots. Pounamu, or greenstone, is nephrite jade found in New Zealand.
