Plaid Fall Hooded Jacket
5. Plaid Fall Hooded Jacket  (November 1, 2012)
Since we had Hurricane Sandy rip through the east coast and I was stuck home, I made a coat!
The fabric was salvaged from the soon to be trash of a fabric designer.  It was 3 yards and *just* enough.  I would have preferred to have it a few inches longer, but you have to make do with what you have sometimes.  I tried to match the pattern as best I could considering I had to piece together some of it.  The lining was the only thing bought for this jacket and cost all of $10 in garment district.  It was sold as a poly print, but it feels like silk and held up to a super hot iron without melting.  It might be rayon.  There was only 2 yards of this, but because I didn't have to really worry about the pattern, it was enough.
The body of the coat was made using Vogue 8346 view A.  I omitted the upper collar portion and drafted a hood pattern instead.  The hood was attached in the same manner that the upper collar would have originally been.
I also lengthened the sleeves, because these patterns always have shorter sleeves on me.  The pockets were also made a little wider and deeper.  When it's cold, I like my whole hand and wrist to stay warm.
I added a belt I already had in my stash and I love how it finished the look.

Patsy's Wedding Dress and my MOH Dress
9. Patsy's Wedding Dress and my MOH Dress  (April 2011)
I was tasked to make Patsy's wedding dress for her Vegas shindig this past April.  She is like my sister and I was so excited to get a chance to make her dress for her big day.  We went hunting for a dress style that worked best on her and then for fabrics in the city.  She finally chose a simple a-line gown with diagonal ruching along the sides that gave a slimming look and was very mod.  She looked gorgeous :-D

Since I was making her dress, I figured I'd make my MOH dress to coordinate.  I couldn't really afford a David's Bridal gown, and I know I wanted something that would fit me right.  I sent Patsy color swatches and she approved a beautiful watermelon pink chiffon and satin with a chocolate satin ribbon bow.  The bust is ruched to coordinate with the ruching on her wedding gown.  I used the same Vogue pattern I had used for the Marchesa repro, but this time I actually made it somewhat to the pattern.

Update! 05-22-06
A few sneak peaks at the almost done dress :-)

Update! 04-20-06
My hoop skirt came in, yay!  So I naturally placed the mock-up on top and all the gathers I worked so hard on, looked terrible on the hoop.  Soooo, I took them ALL out and re-did them until I was happy with it.  I'm gratefull this hoop was adjustable because it was QUITE full when I tried it on lol.  I looked like a bell basically.  Anyway, I have pics of the new crinoline with the re-done mock-up :-)

Update! 04-18-06
I added photos of the 2nd mock-up dress :-)  In two weeks I'll be cutting into the good fabric.

Here are pictures of my dress in the making and all the inspiration along the way.  I also have shots of the Bridesmaids dresses here too.

Kimono
11. Kimono

I decided to try and create my own Kimono for the Brooklyn Botanical Garden's Cherry Blossom fest. Unfortunately I was unable to go since I was in the middle of packing up to move.

I used a pattern from someone on Deviant Art http://browse.deviantart.com/?qh=&section=&global=1&q=kimono+tutorial#/d1ci40b and their instructions were somewhat easy to follow.  Just be sure to measure and take  care when cutting fabric that your lines are straight (if not using a Kimono bolt).

Recreation Marchesa Gown
13. Recreation Marchesa Gown  (September 12, 2009)
This is something I'm working on for Brooke's wedding in September.  I fell in LOVE with the original inspiration dress which was a Marchesa... I did not however, fall in love with the $5600 price tag O_O.

I will be making my version for MUCH less.

DKNY Christmas Dress
14. DKNY Christmas Dress  (December 5, 2008)
This is the folder for the progress of my DKNY dress that I'm making for Will's office holiday party.  Last year I wore my mother's vintage green dress that I made the clutch, belt, and show clips for.  This year I'm going a tiny bit less formal but still stylin ;-)  Silk Charmeuse and Silk Chiffon come together with Silk satin ribbon accents.  This is a dress I can wear after the party as regular casual wear.  It can be dressed up or down :-)

Vogue DKNY Collection Pattern #V2978 (size AA)
Crepe Back Satin
Black Dotted Netting
Silk Satin Ribbon (2" x 4yds)

Purple Greecian Goddess
15. Purple Greecian Goddess  (April 2, 2008)
This is a dress for my auditions for Project runway.  I wanted to show one of my costumes, a RTW, and an evening.  I've always loved the drape and feel of silk chiffon over a layer of charmeuese, so that's what this dress is made of.  A beautiful plum charmeuese under layer with a black silk chiffon overlay, and a silk flower at the shoulder, it will be 'tied' with a satin ribbon or a ruched chiffon belt, I haven't quite decided yet.

Project Runway Challenge Dress
16. Project Runway Challenge Dress  (March 9, 2008)
I based this of a challenge idea to create a garment based off an animal.  I chose my cat, Leia, as my inspiration.
The dress has a vintage flair to it while still remaining modern.  The burnout velvet is similar in sheen to Leia's fur and the charmeuse was her favorite to eat ;-)  She reminds me of 1950's lady, she sits up straight with that coy look in her eyes.

Hawaiian Print Dress 2013
The fabric was purchased while in Hawaii at the Aloha Stadium Swap Meet.  It's a super soft and light cotton.
The pattern was altered from Vogue V1094 heavily.  I really only used it for dart placement on the bodice.
The skirt is 4 panels and is blind hemmed in place.  The bodice is lined in a natural cotton.

Rayon/Cotton Jersey Maxi Dress - 2010
Made from fabric purchased at Mood.  Keenan and Kellie got me a gift certificate to there, otherwise I  would never be able to afford that place.
Made from Vogue Pattern V8470.

Linen Halter Dress - 2007
Made from an embroidered linen that my mother gave me and a pattern that I drafted based on another dress I own.
