Padme ROTS Revalations Dress (June 16, 2007)I have used photos from Maggie at Padawan's Guide, from Kay_Dee's FIDM photos, as well as my own runway photos.
I'm adding photos with my own persoinal notes about how this looks like it's constructed and details.
June 25, 2007 - my personal notes and ideas for this dress.
Instead of making the beaded collar and wrists part of the dress, make them like a dickie and gauntlets closing with snaps at the back of the neck and wrists. From a close up of one of the photos from FIDM, I can see an overlapping layer on the wrists which suggests that they close with either snaps or hook/eyes.
I'm going to make the under dress as two parts. A bolero type jacket with the large cuffs that hook and eyes up the front flap. The other part will be an A-line dress with an empire waist, from the seam down will be the quilted silk. From the seam up will be a simple sleeveless cotton top.
The robe will be like a long coat with the shoulder 'wrap' being detachable. I'm still working out the logistics of this one.
Simple flat burgundy ballet flats embellished with beading - you'll never see the shoes, but I always like to make shoes that coordinate regardless :-)
June 16, 2007 - Research has been started on this gown.
"We see Padme in Bail Organa's office. There's a formal quality required there, and the people she's meeting with are not to be aware that she's pregnant. So for that costume I wanted to have a feel of the ceremonial." And, "On Episode II, while we were here in Australia, I discovered a marvelous embroiderer- Sandra Faltin. Clone Wars Purple Ilum Dress | This is a work in progress at the moment. SO far I have purchased the velvet for the coat (which took almost a year to find the perfect shade), and I made a mock up of the under pinnings. As I get some more more money, and after the wedding, I'll be able to work on this more. |
