Update! Sept 27 - 95% done! I just need to Hem the skirt and get cool stockings!
I've always wanted a can can outfit like those in the Movie Moulin Rouge. I decided since I had a corset already, I'd design around it and thus Madame Zircon was born. Since I have $300 that I can freely play with and not feel guilty spending (yay for that eBay commercial gig!) - I'm going all out and getting all the pieces exactly how I want them. 1 Sketch Idea Black on Black Stripe with my Corset. No Bustle, I nixed the idea on that one because of lack of fabric. Drawstring bodice with poofy'ish sleeves (elastic at arm hole). The ruffles will be Turquoise and Black Satin with coordinating organdy edging. Black hat with feather plumes.
My corset with the dress fabric and organdy ribbons.
The color is actually pretty close :-)
Bodice Mock-up, this became the lining in the end since it came out perfect :-)
Asleep in the ruffle process. Hey - hand ruffling 14 yards of material isn't easy lol.
Leia seems to like my dress, as I took the picture she decided to try and eat it!

My boa. It photographed a funny color, it really does match the ruffles lol.

3 Rows of Ruffles now!
My hat drying after spray painting.
Pippin helping to keep the ruffles from getting away lol.
Comb sewn to the front to keep the hat on. I'm going to add ribbons in the back to tie around me hair to keep it snug.
Finished had with turquoise organdy trim and bow. Finished velvet choker with jewel.
My boots! Mom gave me these ages ago, bought them new at a thrift store for $5. I think they'll work out all right for this costume :-)
The garter! I used Turquoise satin ribbon and the black organdy. I had to stitch the organdy together at the sides to make it wide enough. I then ran the elastic through it, closed it up, and added the jewel.
Earrings I made to go with it.
4 Rows of Ruffles! Leia "HELP! The ruffles are creeping closer!"
The corset on the nearly done bodice. I hadn't done the sleeves at the time, but I wanted to see how the corset looked with it.
Finished bodice with the petticoat pinned up.
Sleeve ruffle
An approximation of how it will look when completed :-D
Hat, boa, choker, bodice, and corset.

Boots, Skirt, and Garter.

Without the corset on it.
Cute shoe clips for the back of the boots. Grossgrain Ribbon with Swarovski center stones.
Panties made to match! Boy short style with organza trim
I can Can-can!
The shorts, garter, boots, clips, and boa :-)
6 Rows of Ruffles! It's done! Maybe in the future I'll add more, but it's pretty heavy as it is.
