 1 Meet Vienna!
| 2 She is a beautiful girl who turned 1 year old in April.
| 3 She weighs 12 lbs. and stands 11" tall.
|
4 Isn\'t she cute? But she wasn\'t always....
| 5 ...Vienna came to us in mid February, having been born in a puppymill and spent the first 10 months of her life without proper stimulation, socialization, love, or care. She was extremely fearful, skittish, and handshy.
| 6 Besides the Demodex mange, she was suffering from very deep skin infection, both bacterial and fungal, and deep seborrheic dermatitis.
|
7 But we got her on a good course of medicine and as she started to feel better, she got perkier and perkier. She began doing Rattie runs around the office and is extremely alert to everything going on around her.
| 8 After a few weeks, that tail began wagging and she gained a bright gleam in her beautiful eyes.
| 9 Going to meet-and-greet events at PetSmart and dog expo events has really helped expose Vienna to the world.
|
10 4/9/10 After almost 2 months in fostercare, Vienna\'s fur has completely grown back in. Her eyebrows and cheeks are the palest tan.
| 11 Her housetraining is finally very good. She has learned how to use the doggie door, and as long as she has access to it, she does fine. If she does not have access to a doggie door, she will need a regular schedule because she does not "ask" to go out.

| 15 Vienna still has some residual issues from her lack of early socialization-- mostly a wariness and uncertainty about strangers. She takes quite some time to get used to new people, and she still has a fear of hands reaching for her. If she thinks someone is trying to "get" her, she may do a small bit of submissive urinatation. This is getting MUCH better, though, and she is close to getting over it entirely.
|
16 But she is great with the people she trusts, and she comes seeking out attention and affection.
| 17 Because she is so comfortable in the company of other dogs, and takes her lead from them in learning what to fear (or not), it is essential that Vienna\'s new adoptive home have at least one other dog.
| 18 She is incredibly gentle and wants so very much to be loved.
|
19 She is hoping for a patient, understanding family who will give her time to continue learning how to be a confident dog.
| 20 Could you be the one?
