Introducing Spruce!
Enlarge photo 22
He is a short-legged "Teddy" Rat Terrier weighing a little over 12 lbs.

Spruce is about 5 years old.

Spruce was considered unadoptable from the shelter because of third eyelid prolapse, more commonly known as "cherry eye" in both eyes. Fortunately we were able to pull him and get him the surgery he needed.
Enlarge photo 55
Cherry eye isn't particularly serious, but it can lead to future eye problems if not corrected.

Despite how uncomfortable he must have been, this friendly guy fit right in to his foster home, being friendly to all, humans and dogs.

He immediately became friends with his younger foster brother, Ceiba.

And was not shy about asking for treats from his new foster dad.

He gets quite excited at dinner time.

Spruce also arrived in foster care with a HORRIBLE urinary tract infection, making him have to pee every 15-20 minutes, with blood in the urine. We immediately got him started on antibiotics and hope that he will be feeling relief soon.

The camera is interrupting Ceiba's and Spruce's playtime.

Quite frankly, though, this little lovebug would prefer being in your lap than anything else.

Half a lap is better than none.

He particularly likes Gary's lap because of the built-in pillow.
