Praline is a precious girl who quickly wins the heart of everyone who meets her.

She stands about 12" tall, is 11" long, and weighs 13 lbs.

She was found by Animal Control near a shelter, and we assume she was dumped by owners who weren't able to deal with her eye problems.

She is only about 5 years old, but when she was rescued, she already had cataracts and glaucoma. An ophthalmologist determined that her left eye is stable, with normal pressure, and although the cornea is cloudy and the lens was found to be completely detached, she does have decent mid-range vision and is able to get around without problems. No on-going treatment is needed for her left eye other than including eye pressure checks in her regular on-going vet care.

Her right eye, though, had been damaged by glaucoma and was completely blind. The  recommendation was for this eye to be removed to eliminate any possibility of future pain and problems.

So on December 10 Praline had surgery to remove the blind eye. She sailed through surgery with no problems at all and within hours was totally back to her happy self (but somewhat strange looking).

Ten days later (12/20) she got her stitches out. The whole ordeal never bothered her one bit and has not made the slightest difference in her ability to get around. And now (1/8) she is all healed up and totally unconcerned with that spot where the uncomfortable eye used to be.

Just as she did before her surgery, Praline continues to jump onto laps, trot up and down stairs, handle the dog door like a pro, hop into and out of the car, and "dance" for treats.

She is alert and inquisitive, and she doesn't hesitate to get out and explore her environment. And she is reliably housetrained and learned how to use a dog door!

This personable girl is playful with her people. She likes to play "arm wrestling" and to kiss you unmercifully when she is done.

She is very friendly with the other dogs, and although she sometimes tries to initiate play with them, she usually is content to just be a bystander. She absolutely ignores cats.

Mostly, though, this girl just wants to be near you, soaking up love from you and returning it with enthusiasm. She is ultra friendly and gentle and loves people of all ages--even strangers--and appreciates being in your lap or snuggling next to you in bed.

WHAT PRALINE LOVES: dinner time, butt scratches, licking your wrists, curling up in bed under the covers, walks around the neighborhood.
WHAT PRALINE DISLIKES: spending too much time alone, having her teeth brushed, being on a diet.

Trying out her new pajamas. Her little tail never stops flickering.
