1 Meet sweet Miss Nirvana.
2 She is 8 years old. We are pretty confident of her age because when she first came to rescue 6 years ago, she had been an owner surrender and that owner let us know that she was 2 at the time. You can see pictures of Nirvana from 6 years ago by clicking here.
3 Nirvana was a pretty chunky gal, at 13.6 lbs., when she was surrendered. She has been on a diet so is slowly losing weight, with a goal of getting down to 12 lbs.
4 She likes to hang out in the kitchen, undoubtedly hoping for a handout, but she doesn't beg or make herself a pest about food and she takes treats gently.
5 She will got into a crate on her own to nap during the day and also to sleep at night.
6 She is normally very quiet and does not join in when the other dogs start barking.
7 She gets along sweetly with the other dogs in her foster home.
8 Evening TV time with foster daddy.
9 She likes to be near you but is not pesty for attention, and if other dogs or people are in the way, she is content to curl up on a dog bed on the floor insteaad.
10 Nirvana was recently diagnosed with Cushing's disease, which means she needs daily medicine to keep her cortisol (a hormone) at a normal level. She is quite happy about this because she gets her pill in a bit of cream cheese, and that is a yummy thing!
11 Cushing's disease can make a dog need to urinate frequently, but as long as we take her out every 3 hours or so, she does fine and does not have accidents in the house. And she sleeps through the night without having to go out.
