Say hello to Miss Impala.
She is a tiny little thing... weighing just 6 lbs.
She has the nice house manners of a very well adjusted 9- or 10-year old.
Impala came to rescue with severe dental disease, infection, and several loose and broken teeth. Her poor little jaw was quite swollen.
It is likely that her mouth/teeth problems made it difficult for her to eat, making her far too skinny.
Groggy baby recuperating from her spay and dental surgery. She had several teeth extracted and everything cleaned up, and we hope she will soon be eating better and putting on some weight.
She is pretty quiet in the house and does not bark when the doorbell rings, although she will go to the front door to investigate.
She is a pretty mellow girl, seeking out comfy places to nap somewhere near me where she can keep an eye on me.
Impala gets along wonderfully with other dogs. She can be a little playful, but usually just hangs out with them in easy companionship.
She had a couple accidents in the house in her first days here, but that was probably just a transition issue, as she has shown good house training skills since that time.
She is so small and thin that she can slip through spaces that seem far too small for a dog. She can even squeeze through the bars of a baby gate that are only 2.75" apart!!!
Impala is alert and inquisitive about noises out in the yard, but generally just watches and listens without the need to run investigate.
She walks pretty well on leash but isn't terribly confident about it. She will also dance on her hind legs, batting her front legs in the air, to request treats.

That drawer that Gary forgot to shut looked like an inviting place to nap.
"What do you mean it's not a dog bed?"
She hasn't shown any interest in toys, but that could change once her mouth is completely healed.
