I came home from class and my wife just about died when she saw the quarter panel was cut off.

I wanted more room for bigger slicks so added to the wheel well. I cut wheel tub and welded a 1 1/2 inch strip of sheet metal to it.
The hinge area still looks stock.

My daughter had the "I built mine did you?" made for me. I can say I did all the work on the car with my own hands except for the machine work on the block and rechroming the bumpers.

Every Saturday morning we loaded the Fairlane up on the trailer to take it to Lansing Community College for their body shop and paint lab. The coldest morning was 7 degrees with a wind chill that took it down to 16 below 0. The car was wenched up on the trailer.

The engine I built is a 391 heavy duty truck block (stronger block) bored out .120 over stock 391 block. I end up with 413 CI I am running a tri-power that I purchased for $175 (in 1972).
