1 #1 NBOB GRCH Logan Lane Kisme G Lightning
Owner : Robyn Kissler or Rhonda Fassbender (443 pts)
Flash was bred by Linda Hibbard of Logan Lane Kennels and came to live with us at weaning. She was an outgoing ready-to-do-anything puppy. (This includes curling up on the couch and eating popcorn while watching TV.)
She was born on 2/15/03 and started her show career in August of that year. Flash had never had a leash or collar on prior to walking in the ring that first time. She looked up at me and said, "Mommy, this is a lot of fun, lets keep doing it."
In two months, the end of the '03' show season, she had become a Champion and taken 4 legs toward her Grand Champion. We ran out of shows, but she came back out in February of '04' at the Tulare show and completed her Gr. Ch. on her first birthday.
We weren't really planning on campaigning a dog in '04' as I thought Flash was mentally too young for the campaign trail, but ...
2 #2 GRCH King Pen Whoopie Lee
Owner : Sherry Hendrix and Jo Ann Draper (297 pts)
Grand Champion King Pen Whoopie Lee is ranked #2 on the 2004 UKC Top 10 List. She is an outstanding Rat Terrier who is #1 in our hearts.
In her short career, Whoopie has over 35 Best of Breed wins and 2 Specialty wins (one in Washington and one in her home state of California).
This terrific dog has it all---great looks and movement, outgoing personality, as well as a love of swimming, playing ball, racing the lure course and going to ground.
She is everything we have strived for and more. I can't thank King Pen Kennels enough for this wonderful dog.
I would also like to thank all the judges for recognizing Whoopie's excellence and helping her make it to the top of the standings.
Cruise was born on 11-14-2002! The last of 6 babies and Bur-Way Stars first foundation litter! From the moment he came out, the boy has been making his presence known. He is full of happy energy, ready, willing and able to take on all new tasks...and he happily does what is asked of him.
His career in the show ring has been a fun one for both of us! (Cruise loves it almost as much as I do!)
In 2004 he has one BIMBS, one RBIMBS, 15 BOB's (under 13 different judges), Three Group 2's, one Group 3. Cruise is a Total Dog (December 2004) and is one qualifying pull away from his UWP.
I love this boy with my whole heart...he is my travel buddy and my boy...he's THE CRUISER!
4 #4 GRCH Flinthills Ben Roun'da Ben
Owner : Glenda Bruneau or Bonnie Turner (130 points)
Benny began his quest for his Grand Championship in May 2004 at the Middle Georgia Kennel Club. After talking to some of our new UKC friends we decided to visit our first Premier show in Kalamazoo. We thought Benny was nice enough to be seen by other Rat Terrier breeders and fanciers.
To our amazement Benny went Best of Breed at the American Rat Terrier Association Specialty. The next day he won the Champions class. By the end of June, Benny was a Grand Champion.
In August he received his first Reserve Best in Multi-Breed Show. He has since gone on to win several more. Thanksgiving weekend at Gulf Coast Terrier Club's first show, Benny won Best in Multi-Breed Show. That was a wonderful way to end our 2004 show season.
We want to thank all the judges that recognized the wonderful attributes that Benny possesses. We would also like to thank the m...
For a limited nine weekends of showing, RaganRat Kennel is proud of GRCH RaganRat Bailey Boy for the #5 Top Ten position.
"Bay-bay", as he is affectionately nick-named, was awarded 12 Best of Breed and 7 Group placements during 2004.
The Button-Ear ambassador has represented the Rat Terrier breed and our kennel quite well for two years in the standings (2003 #4 / 2004 #5) and is now retired from the Top Ten competition.
We are honored by all the judges who graciously rewarded Bailey for his good looks, conformation, superb movement and unforgettable expression. Now, Bailey will be reclined in his easy-lounger, dawning sunglasses, sipping gravy cocktails, watching his progeny rise and shine!
6 #6 UFCH USCH GRCH Poochville's Macy Mae Brown Owner: Marcia Meyers - Breeder: Julia Kleutsch (123 points)
We began 2004 with dreams of participating in UKC's new Terrier Racing events, as well as making our first trip out to Kalamazoo for Premier. What a trip it was!
Judge Sandra Drake awarded Macy 2003's Top 10 Best of Breed, and my girl went on to run her little legs off in the Terrier Races.
Macy went undefeated in earning the first Racing Titles in both Flat and Steeplechase Racing, and finished the year by earning Champion titles in both as well. Macy earned more points this year than last, and all of her Breed wins came under different judges.
I can not begin to express how special Macy is. She has more than earned a rest this year as she enters into retirement. She may go back into the show ring occasionally, and she will race when possible, because that is what she truly loves. We may try our hand at agility or obedience i...
7 #7 GRCH Pv Kgpn Hurricane Ridge Rr Owner:
Hurricane entered the 2004 show ring at the end of March. He ended up taking his first best in multibreed show that weekend. He continued to show on a limited basis and finished the year with 3 best in multibreed shows and a best in breed at the premier.
Even though his show experience was limited, he developed quite a following in the Northwest because of his show ring antics. He always enters the ring with a flying leap and will jump up and kiss me in the face while moving around the ring. He has a hard time containing his enthusiasm.
He is an absolute joy to show and even more fun to live with every day. Hurricane is also my running partner and together we log more than 20 miles a week. When we return from a run, he heads straight for his toy box and selects something to cuddle with for the rest of the evening.
Hurricane will start training for agility in the spring of 2005, in hopes that he can demonstrate...
8 #8 GRCH Tanaga's October Fest Owner : Robin M Lutwinas (107 points)
October is the fourth dog I've had in the Top Ten. She follows her mother GRCH Lar-Mon's Tinkerbell, her father GRCH Four Paws Mr. X, and her sister GRCH Tanaga Mr. X's Tuff Tinker.
This past year started out as a warm up to try for Top Ten in 2005 for October. Her first show of the year was at the Carolina Classic weekend. At the Friday night show, October went Best of Breed and from there continued to take many more BOBs over the rest of the year, making her a contender for the Top Ten in 2004.
At home, October is a quiet girl that enjoys sleeping on my lap or next to me while we watch TV. When she's out in the kennel, she enjoys sharing her run with her sister, Tinker, while they lounge and chew Nyla bones on their chair.
October is just starting to get the hang of Terrier Racing and I plan to have her active in the sport for 2005. Also, October is my mother's favorite dog...
9 #9 GRCH King Pen's Kalifornia Ratitatt Owner : Valerie S Luchsinger (89 points)
GRCH King Pen's Kalifornia Ratitatt ("Kali") is an exceptional Rat Terrier that made the 2004 UKC Top Ten list in her first year of modest showing. In just 11 weekends of shows including 1 totaled SUV on the way to her first show (arriving by taxi), she won 27 Best of Breeds, typically followed by a group placement!
Kali has been selected as the Rat Terrier "Cover Girl" for the AKC Foundation Stock Service breed listing. See the listing at http://www.akc.org/breeds/fss_breeds.cfm.
Kali is planned to eventually be Ratitatt Rat Terrier's foundation female, purchased from King Pen Kennels. What a change from our 8 years with German Shorthaired Pointers - much less food, easier to care for, and our young children don't get knocked over!
Rat Terriers really are a "large dog in a small dog body". Kali's favorite activities are hunting moles and burrow...
10 #10 GRCH Turn The Other Paw Owner : Susan D Turner (75 points)
In 2003 Companion Kennels had two dogs in the UKC Top Ten. Turn Esther from Heaven was UKC #2. Turn Bandit Colby Was UKC #10. In the middle of the year I had the opportunity to put Esther's mother (Turn Abigail) and Bandit's father (Sparky's Venom) together. And in September of 2003 Paw was born.
Sometimes you place dogs together for breeding and you get more then you expected. Paw is one of those dogs. I had a lot of advice from friends and co-breeders who to keep out of this litter and the choices were very tough ones.
We affectingly call him Mr. Paw. He is a very fun dog to have around. He loves to jump into my arms when I get home from work, no matter what I am wearing. That puts extra paw prints all over me. He gets very excited when people come over and he stacks himself in front of them until they give him a treat. He has tripped a few people up that way.
