1. Shimada Obi Matsuri  (2001 - October)
Every four years around this time Shimada city has a HUGE festival. It goes for three days and involves the entire city. The parade is over 3 hours long and is one long cultural display. It even continues into the evening with lantern covered floats surrounded by dancers. Oh, and a lot of beer.

We went to the Obi Matsuri again. It is only held every 4 years and we understand so much more Japanese now we found it much more interesting and took many different types of pictures.
