From original post return:
"Left Camp Bidwell Feb 23rd ’64 with ten men in pursuit of a small band of Indians, who had been committing depredations in Butte Co.  Followed them across Rock, Deer and Dry Creeks to Mill Creek Tehema County Cal. being unable to overtake them.  The country was very rough and mountainous almost impassible. The men becoming foot sore & having taken but five days rations returned to Camp Bidwell Feb 28th ‘64"
